And we are here on Wednesday. We're continuing our classes in the Ben0:13Ish Chai. We're talking about the halachot of Shabbat,0:15and specifically now we're up to the halachot of preparation for Shabbat.0:20The last time we were together, we spoke about the halachot0:26of preparing the shnayim mikra0:30v'echad targum, and we mentioned that we're going to speak about the laws of, or the halachot,0:34the concept of0:35hok l'Yisrael. So b'ezrat Hashem, today's class we'll speak about0:38hok l'Yisrael, and then we'll continue to important subjects that many people are interested to know about,0:42and that is the halachot of candle lighting,0:46hadlakat nerot Shabbat, a very special mitzvah,0:49and this is something that's very dear to a lot of people,0:53and therefore, b'ezrat Hashem, we hope to cover these halachot.0:55We're not going to cover everything today,0:58but throughout, b'ezrat Hashem, the next upcoming few classes,1:00we hope to delve into the subject very clearly,1:02and b'ezrat Hashem, we'll take any questions if anybody needs.1:06You could call into the studio.1:08The number over here is1:11718-683-5858. To text in your question, you could text it in at1:16347-927-8398. Again, the number is1:19718-683-5858. That's the number to call in,1:20and to text in your question, you could text in at1:25347-927-8398. So like we said, we're going to begin with the laws of1:28hok l'Yisrael. We are working off the Ben1:31Ish Chai, and although this is a halacha in Parashat Lech Lecha regarding the laws of1:36hok l'Yisrael, I'm not going to read it inside.1:38We're going to save the reading of inside the Ben Ish Chai to the halachot of nerot Shabbat.1:43So right now, let's just give you a little idea of what this concept, what is this thing,1:48hok l'Yisrael. Although— This is primarily a men's mitzvah,1:53because hoklei Yisrael is an extension, it's a way to fulfill the mitzvah of Talmud Torah, learning Torah.1:59Obligation of learning Torah is an obligation of every single man.2:03Women could learn Torah.2:04They certainly get reward if they learn Torah,2:06and it's very recommended that women learn Torah.2:07In fact, they have to learn certain parts of the Torah.2:10The famous words of the Rav Chaim Brisker, who explains,2:13how come women say,2:18Asher kideshanu b'mitzvotav v'tzivanu al divrei Torah? In the morning, women make brachot haTorah.2:20How could they say that He commanded us to fulfill the mitzvah of Torah?2:24They're not obligated to learn Torah.2:25It's only men who are obligated to learn Torah.2:27And the answer is that women are obligated to learn the laws that they have to know.2:33Women has to know the halachot of nida.2:35Women has to know the halachot of Shabbat.2:36Women has to know the halachot of2:38berachot, and many other halachot pertaining to the2:40woman. In fact, most of the practical halachot,2:43especially what goes on in the house,2:44a woman has to know.2:46So therefore, they have the obligation to learn it.2:49As far as men, men have to learn even things that are not applicable to them.2:53And that's the difference between the mitzvah of learning Torah for men and women.2:57For a man, like Rav Moshe Feinstein brings in Igrot Moshe,3:01he has the obligation to learn kol haTorah3:04kulah. He can't say, Oh, you know, this is not practical.3:06I already covered everything practical.3:07I already know.3:07Let's say a person says, Oh, you know, I already covered all the halachot I need to know.3:11Pretty much my life is set.3:13I know what to do.3:14I know the3:15Shulchan Aruch. I'm done learning.3:16I have a good memory.3:17It doesn't work that way.3:18For a man, he has an obligation,3:19v'hagita bo3:20yomam valayla. He has to constantly learn3:22and to cover the whole Torah,3:23and when he's done, he has to review it and continue learning it.3:26As far as a woman, if she has such a good head,3:28and she's very smart, and she's able to somehow cover all the halachot that are pertaining to her,3:33let's say she's done.3:33She knows what to do.3:35And therefore, that's the difference between men and3:37women. Hoklei Yisrael is the learning that a person has to do on a daily basis3:45that has been instituted by Rabbeinu Vital, by the Arizal,3:49excuse me, and it's been recorded by Rabbeinu Vital.3:52The Chiddah, just before we get to the details of3:54Chok LeYisrael, just to tell you a little bit about the greatness of a person who does the3:59Chok LeYisrael. Chok LeYisrael, many people think4:00that, you know what, it's only for4:03the amei haaretz. Me, I'm a4:04talmid chacham, I learn yeshiva.4:05Or I'm a person, although I don't learn yeshiva, I go to work,4:08but, you know, I'm very, what's it called, I'm very knowledgeable.4:14I understand much better,4:15so for me it's not pertaining to me.4:17I learn other things. I learn only Gemara.4:18I learn some halachot Shulchan Aruch.4:20I don't need to do a4:23Chok LeYisrael. Chacham Ben Zion brings down in his4:25Shut, Chelek Bet, in Ohr LeTzion, the4:27halacha4:28lemaaseh, and he says that Chok LeYisrael should be done by everybody,4:30including talmidei yeshiva and including4:35rabbanim. And even if you're learning all day in yeshiva,4:39still, says Chacham Ben Zion,4:41a person should do the4:44Chok LeYisrael. And it doesn't take long, rabotai, you should know.4:46Chok LeYisrael takes, if you really want to do it very quickly,4:49just the minimum, you could do it in six minutes,4:53literally.4:54We have a Chok LeYisrael class in our shul every single morning,4:57and it takes us, with an explanation, by the way,5:00I explain the Gemara and the Zohar,5:04literally seven minutes,5:05no more than seven minutes.5:06It's very, very short,5:07seven minutes.5:07That's not a lot of time.5:08If you want to do it5:11al regel achat, you want to do it in a very calm way,5:14read very slowly,5:15it'll take you ten minutes.5:16That's a person who can read,5:17an average person who knows how to read5:19regular, it could take him ten minutes a day.5:20In these ten minutes, says the5:22Chiddah, in these ten minutes you could accomplish,5:25based on the spiritual lights that you5:28metaken, more than a person could do in an hour5:30with other learning.5:31Because the5:32Chok LeYisrael, it's not just that we're learning,5:34we're just reading words;5:36you5:36metaken different parts of different worlds.5:38Let me explain to you now5:39what is5:41Chok LeYisrael, how does it work,5:42and then we'll give you some ideas behind it.5:45In order that we should understand5:47exactly what the greatness of5:52Chok Leisrael. Basically what it is,5:53Chok Leisrael has six to eight parts inside of5:57it. The original one that the Arizal instituted6:00has six different sections6:02on a daily basis.6:04Every day you'll do six types of learning,6:07okay?6:08The first part is6:10Chumash. The second part is6:13Nevi'im. The third part are Pesukim from6:16Ketuvim. The fourth part are Mishnayot.6:18The fifth part is Gemara,6:20and the sixth part is Zohar.6:21That's what the Arizal instituted originally.6:25Later on, in times of the6:26Chida, the Chida added two more sections to the daily learning,6:30and that is6:32Halacha, Pesukah. He would bring6:34halachot, and the other one is Musar,6:36okay?6:36I just gave you the names.6:38I didn't explain anything.6:39Let me explain now how it works.6:41The idea is that a person, when he's learning,6:45he should not just learn one area of learning,6:47because the Ramchal explains in6:50Derech Hashem that when a person learns Torah,6:51besides the information that you get from the knowledge,6:54you get information from anything you learn.6:55If you open up a science book, Lehavdil,6:58so you know how the sun rises from the7:01east and it sets in the west,7:02so you have information.7:04But the learning of Torah, besides the information that you know,7:08it's not that you just learn,7:09you know how to light candles on Shabbat,7:10you know how to make Kiddush on Shabbat,7:12you know how to say the proper berachot and proper blessings.7:15When you learn Torah,7:17you metaken, you fix your soul.7:19Spiritually, you become more of a spiritual person,7:23and not only do you fix yourself,7:25not only do you heal your neshama, your soul,7:28but when a person learns Torah,7:30you heal the world.7:32You fix parts of the world.7:34Like the Gemara tells us,7:35if it wasn't for the fact that the Torah is learned on every single second,7:42the world would not exist.7:43Haolam kayam, the Mishnah tells us7:45that the world stands on three things.7:46One of those three things is the learning of Torah.7:49And if for one moment somebody is not learning Torah somewhere in the world,7:53then the world will cease to7:54exist. That's how the mefarshim explain why we have different time zones.7:57Why, how come for us it's eight o'clock?8:00For other people, it's seven o'clock. For other people, it's8:02six o'clock, and for other people, it's daytime. For some people, it's nighttime.8:05How come the world is divided in such a way?8:07And he explains, so this way it allows people, the Jews all over the world,8:11that somebody should be learning Torah in order to keep the world going.8:13Yes, that's not just a belief; that's how the world works.8:17If a person wants to believe it or not, that's his own option, but that's how the world works.8:19The world stands on the learning Torah; that's what keeps the world going.8:23So when you learn, you are metaken, you allow the world to exist.8:27But more than that, when you learn, and specifically when you learn specific types of learning,8:32you fix the world in a spiritual way. You make the world a more spiritual world.8:36You make it easier now for somebody else to become more spiritual, to get closer to8:41HaKadosh Baruch Hu. Famous words of Rabbi Yisrael8:42Salanter. Rabbi Yisrael Salanter used to say he used to have a yeshiva in Poland,8:47and Poland is, if you look on the map, that's Eastern Europe, right?8:50Now, at the time of Rabbi Yisrael Salanter, in the late 1800s,8:53the people of Eastern Europe, the Jews of Eastern Europe, were much more religious than the people of Western Europe.8:59Western Europe, like Germany and France, already over there the intermarriage was very high.9:04Reform was already very strong and very solid. A lot of people were leaving religion over there.9:09So it wasn't a surprise to hear that people in Western Europe do not keep Shabbat.9:13But in Eastern Europe, has v'shalom, everybody was religious. Everybody was shomer Shabbat.9:19Not everybody, but the majority of Jews were.9:21So Rabbi Yisrael Salanter once told his talmidim, his students,9:24You should know, when a yeshiva bachur in Poland misses mincha, it causes a person in France;9:31it allows him that he's able to be mechalel Shabbat.9:34He doesn't have the spiritual energy to fight the yetzer hara not to be mechalel Shabbat,9:38because all Jews are connected.9:39When you learn Torah over here, says9:43the Ramchal, somewhere, somehow, some person in the world is being affected by your learning Torah.9:47You're metaken the world when you learn Torah.9:48That's how the Ramchal explains. The Ramchal was a great mekubal, as we know,9:53and therefore, when we learn the different parts of the—9:55and the Ramchal explains that there's different parts of the Torah.9:58There's Chumash, there's pesukim from Chumash, there's pesukim from10:01Nevi'im, there's Ketuvim, there's Gemara.10:02All these different things are metaken different parts of the world.10:05And like we said, the Arizal instituted six parts of learning,10:09and the Sefarim bring down the Maharal and others.10:12That everything in this world is divided pretty much into seven parts.10:17There's six parts that are physical and one part that's spiritual.10:22Let's take, for example, the days of the week.10:24We have seven days of the week,10:26and there's six days where we're allowed to do our work.10:29That's the sheshet10:32yemei chol. And then there's a day which is called Shabbat,10:34and that's a day of spirituality.10:35That's a day of10:37kedushah. And the same thing, if you look at everything in the world.10:40Take, for example, look at the room that you're sitting in,10:42right? It has six parts,10:44six sides.10:45There's the right and the left, in front of you and back of you,10:48on top of you and under you.10:49Every physical object in the world has six sides.10:52And then there's the center point,10:54which doesn't have a side. That's spiritual.10:56That's the same idea,10:57six and one. That's Maharal's famous words of the number seven,11:01six and one.11:01Same thing in our learning,11:03where we learn six parts of the Torah,11:08we're metaken with it the six different parts of the world11:10to bring it more closer to that center point, to the spirituality11:13connected to HaKadosh Baruch Hu.11:15That's the11:15echad. That's the seventh point, which connects everything together.11:18And like we said, these six parts are,11:20the first three parts11:22are Tanach, Torah,11:23Nevi'im, Ketuvim. Now how do you learn?11:24What are you supposed to do every single day?11:27So every single day you're supposed to learn11:29a certain amount of pesukim.11:31The combination, if you add all the number of pesukim11:34from Sunday until Thursday,11:38which is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,11:40that's five days,11:41altogether the number of11:43pesukim that you learn from Tanach on a daily basis11:46adds up to 26 pesukim.11:49I'm sure you heard the number 26.11:50That's the numerical value of Hashem's name,11:53Yud-Kei-Vav-Kei. So every single day you're reading a few pesukim,11:57and it's all because, like we said, on a spiritual level12:00you're connecting, you're bringing the world closer12:01to HaKadosh Baruch Hu, to the12:03Yud-Kei-Vav-Kei. You're connecting everybody, the six sides of the world,12:06to Hashem,12:07make them all bound to HaKadosh Baruch Hu.12:10And how does it work?12:12You read first the,12:14let's say for example, let's take Sunday for example.12:16Sunday, there are six pesukim.12:18We don't have time really to explain12:20why six, why every day there's different numbers.12:22You look in the Chok L'Yisrael, you'll see12:24it's divided by days of the week.12:25So on Sunday you have six pesukim.12:27So what will happen, what you'll see is12:30six pesukim for the next week's12:34parasha. L'mashal, this past Sunday,12:36when we started the Chok L'Yisrael for Parashat Vayera,12:38so you'll see the first six pesukim of Parashat Vayera.12:42And then what you're supposed to do is,12:44when you read the12:45Chok L'Yisrael, when you're reading the pesukim of Chumash,12:47you're supposed to read each pasuk twice,12:52mikra, just the words of12:54the pasuk. For example, Vayera elav Hashem b'Elonei Mamre,12:58v'hu yoshev petach ha'ohel, and you read that pasuk twice,13:01and then you read one time the Targum,13:04shnayim mikra v'echad Targum,13:06just those six pesukim from the Chumash.13:07Then you'll have six pesukim from13:11Nevi'im, and usually Nevi'im will be the haftara of that week's13:15parasha. So in this week's13:16parasha, we're going to read about the haftara about Elisha13:18promising the woman, Shunamit, that she's going to have a child.13:21So you'll find the first six pesukim of the13:24haftara. Also now, in this case over here,13:26when it comes to Nevi'im and Ketuvim,13:28you will not read the pesukim twice13:32and then the Targum, Unklus.13:33Rather, you read only one time the pasuk,13:36and then you read the Targum only one time.13:39And the same thing will be done for Ketuvim.13:41Ketuvim, usually we start from the beginning of Sefer13:44Mishlei, and you just continue every week.13:45You just read 26 pesukim from that13:48divided by the days of the week.13:49So today, I mean on Sunday,13:51when we have six pesukim,13:52so you'll read six pesukim from13:55Mishlei, and again you read the pasuk once,13:57and then you'll read the Targum on it one time.13:59And this will continue. Every single day,14:03whatever amount of pesukim you read for that day,14:05you read for the Chumash, you read it twice with Targum.14:10The Haftarah you read once with the Targum,14:13and the Ketuvim you read also once with the Targum.14:16Okay?14:16That's how you cover Tanach on a daily basis.14:19Now, the next part,14:22the next three parts really,14:23Mishnagimaran Zohar.14:26The Mishnayot are broken up in something we know as Shas.14:30Shas is in the news now,14:32but this is the original Shas,14:33Shishah Sidrei Mishnah,14:35the six sedarim of Mishnah.14:39They are14:41Zeraim, Moed, Nashim,14:42Nezikin,14:44Kodashim, and Taharot.14:46Those six parts of the Mishnah,14:47basically14:48Rabbi Yehuda Nasi, when he wrote the whole Torah14:50Shebaal Peh, he divided to these six sections.14:52And each one has different14:54masechtot. You'll do the same thing.14:55Every day we read one chapter14:58from one14:59masechet in one of these sections.15:02Lemashal, on Sunday we begin,15:04we read from Seder15:05Zeraim. So this past Sunday we read from15:07perek revi'i in15:11Masechet Berachot. Masechet Berachot is in Seder15:14Zeraim, so we read15:15one chapter of Mishnayot.15:19Chacham Betzion says15:19if a person is short on time15:21and he doesn't have so much time,15:23he could read only one Mishnah.15:24You don't have to read the whole15:25perek. You could just read one Mishnah,15:27and15:28yotzei yedei chovah of reading Mishnayot.15:29The next section you have15:31is Gemara.15:33Gemara is usually taken from15:35whatever15:36masechet or seder that you had15:38in Mishnayot.15:39The Gemara will be from the same thing.15:40So, lemashal, on Sunday15:41when we read Mishnayot15:43from15:44Masechet Berachot, we'll also read15:47the— Gemara15:48from15:49Masechet Berachot. And the Gemara are randomly chosen,15:51and then afterwards we read,15:52finally, the sixth section,15:53we read the Zohar,15:54and the Zohar usually contains15:55one part from that week's15:57parasha pertaining, connecting to the parasha, and sometimes...16:00to the weekly events. For example, in the three weeks between Shiva Asar b'Tammuz and16:07Tisha B'Av, so usually the parashiyot are Matot, Masei, and16:11Devarim. You'll notice that the Zohar is not on the parasha, rather the Zohar speaks about the concept of16:17Churban Beit HaMikdash because we're in that time. That's how you fulfill the hok l'Yisrael. Again, the parts are Tanach, Mishnayot,16:24Gemara, and Zohar. And16:25even though it took me a long time to explain it, you know, reading it, it's very, very quick.16:29It takes literally between six to ten minutes on a daily basis, and with that, like the Chida says, you accomplish16:36worlds. You could do a tremendous amount of things. Now, one more, a few more things you have to know. Friday we haven't discussed.16:43Friday, because Friday has a special tikun. It's also found in the books. If you buy the book Hok l'Yisrael or if you download it,16:48you know, you can download it on an app. If you have Apple or if you have any smartphone,16:52I think also, what's the name, Android, you can download an app called16:58U'blechtecha Baderech. If you want to type it in in English, you type On Your Way,17:01O-N-Y-O-U-R W-A-Y, without any space, you'll get the app called17:06U'blechtecha Baderech. Over there they have a section of Hok l'Yisrael, and you just have to click on it,17:09just press the button, and you'll see that you'll get up to the part of that day by itself. It's automatic.17:15It's a very, very nice thing. If you don't want to carry books, you don't want to buy books,17:19you have it on an app and set up. I believe also if you go online, I think Rabbi Mansour has on one of his websites,17:26I believe he has the daily hok, and you can just go there and you'll have the text, and he, I believe,17:31he even has recordings of the text and you listen to it.17:33So in any way, a person could find ways to do it, and it's very easy to be done.17:38Now, we have to talk about the tikun, the way you do hok on the last day of the week, which is Friday.17:44Friday, like we mentioned, is supposed to be the day that you try, you should try to do17:49shnayim mikra v'echad targum. So really, the pesukim for Chumash are really the rest of the17:54parasha. Finish up the parasha, and lechatchila a person should read the whole parasha from beginning to end,18:00shnayim mikra v'echad targum. Then, as for Ketuvim, you don't read targum on Ketuvim; you just read the haftarah.18:06Exceptions for Neviim. Neviim, which is usually the haftarah with Targum,18:10on Friday you just read the haftarah without having to read the Targum.18:14And for Ketuvim, usually you'll say after the haftarah, there's a minhag to say,18:21Hashem, the mizmor, Hashem malach18:23ge'ut lavesh. So that covers you for Torah, the shnayim mikra, chat Targum for Torah.18:28For Neviim, you have the haftarah. For Ketuvim, you have the mizmor, Hashem malach18:34ge'ut lavesh. And then if you look in the book of Chok L'Yisrael, you'll see that on Fridays18:37they have from Seder Taharot, they'll have Mishnayot from usually18:41Masechet Mikvaot or Aholim, or then you'll have also from the Gemara from18:47Masechet Niddah, and finally the Zohar speaks about concepts of Shabbat.18:50One more thing, and that is Thursday night.18:53Thursday night, there's different opinions how to do it, but we go with the Ben18:57Ish Chai. Ben Ish Chai says there's also a special thing to read for Thursday night.19:00Thursday night, if you're up by chatzot, chatzot is about 12:40 right now.19:04When we change the clock, it'll be around19:0611:40, sometimes it'll be 11:30, 12 o'clock, whatever the time is,19:09whatever chatzot laila is, whenever midnight is,19:12a person is supposed to read 26 pesukim of where he finished off19:17in Chok L'Yisrael, meaning since we read throughout the week from19:20Chok L'Yisrael every day different pesukim, and it ends up by Thursday morning19:23you should have been done already with 26 pesukim.19:25So now the next 26 pesukim in the parashah,19:27you just read them regular without the Targum at all, one time.19:31Other sefarim bring different ways, but this is how the Ben Ish Chai says it.19:34All you have to do is read 26 pesukim, and that's one time.19:38Together, 26, 26 equals 52, a very holy two names of HaKadosh Baruch Hu,19:44Yud-Kei-Vav-Kei, which is a very holy thing, a very19:47kabbalistic— not for us, but it's very, very holy.19:49And that's how you do19:51the tikun. If a person cannot be up by chatzot on Thursday night,19:53so then the sefarim bring down you can do it one of two ways. Either,19:56the Ben Ish Chai says, either read it right before you go to sleep.19:59That means you're going to sleep at 1120:00o'clock, you don't have the energy to stay up till20:02chatzot, so fine, right before you go to sleep you should read the 26 pesukim.20:06And if a person forgot on Thursday night, really even though it's over,20:11but the Ben Ish Chai says it doesn't hurt to read these 26 pesukim by themselves20:15on Friday morning before you do your shnayim mikra.20:18If it doesn't help, it doesn't hurt.20:20So that's what the Ben Ish Chai says,20:22and this is how a person could fulfill this great learning of20:28Chok LeYisrael. I do have to mention that although women are not obligated to do this,20:33they are allowed to do this.20:35If a woman wants to read20:36Chok LeYisrael, she wants to dedicate seven, ten minutes of her day to do20:40Chok LeYisrael, she can certainly do so, and there's no problem.20:45It's very good. There's absolutely no problem with her learning all these different things.20:50So that's, I think, the halachot for20:54Chok LeYisrael. Okay, now20:56the Ben Ish Chai, when he brings these20:57halachot, you should know21:01they're found in Parashat Lech Lecha on Shanah Sheniyah. He explains them as your preparation for Shabbat.21:03We all know the famous Gemara.21:06Gemara tells us that Rabbi— not21:08Rabbi— Hillel and Shammai, these great giants of Jewish history,21:13Hillel and Shammai used to prepare for Shabbat in different ways.21:17One would, when he would buy something, food for Shabbat,21:21he would buy something,21:23and whenever he would see something nicer,21:25he would get the next day something nicer.21:26And another rabbi would prepare every single day;21:28he would buy something else for Shabbat.21:29In fact, the whole week a person has to have Shabbat on his mind.21:32Shabbat is a very holy day.21:34It's a day of our connection between us and Kadosh Baruch Hu,21:36and therefore you should keep it in mind.21:39In fact, when we say in the morning21:40the Mizmor shel Yom,21:41we're always saying,21:44Hayom yom Revi'i b'Shabbat kodesh. We're talking about already21:46on the fourth day of the week of Shabbat,21:47with mentioning Shabbat.21:49Shabbat has to be always constant in our mind.21:50It's our spiritual day with HaKadosh Baruch Hu.21:52It's like, imagine21:53you have a person who's getting married.21:56And he hasn't seen the21:58kallah, and he's excited for the wedding.22:00So everything he talks about,22:00Oh, you know, my wedding is coming up,22:02my wedding is coming up.22:02It's a time when he's going to finally start building a family.22:06It's going to be a time of joining together22:09with him and his future wife,22:10be'ezrat Hashem,22:11the mother of his future children22:12and grandmother of his grandchildren.22:14It's a very special time,22:16the wedding.22:16Same thing, Shabbat is a day22:18when we have a closeness with HaKadosh Baruch Hu.22:21The sefarim bring down it's like a wedding.22:23It's like a wedding where we,22:24as Knesset22:25Yisrael, the Jewish people, are united together with Hashem.22:27So therefore Shabbat is always on our minds.22:29The way we prepare for Shabbat,22:31says the Ben22:32Ish Chai, you prepare through physical actions.22:35A person could go and buy food22:37in preparation for Shabbat.22:39A person could do whatever he has to do22:40to prepare for the holy day of Shabbat.22:43And a person also,22:44at the same time,22:45has to prepare himself also with words.22:49There are ways to prepare for Shabbat22:50al pi dibur,22:51and the sefarim bring down22:52the mekubalim especially,22:54speaking words also have to be prepared for Shabbat.22:56We know on22:57Shabbat there's halachot of what we could say,22:59what we cannot say.23:00Throughout the week23:01we have to prepare ourselves also for Shabbat.23:02How do you do that?23:03says the Ben23:04Ish Chai, through23:05Hok LeYisrael. By reading the23:07Hok LeYisrael, that's our preparation23:08al yedei dibur23:09for the sake of Shabbat.23:11And therefore,23:13Hok LeYisrael, besides the great significance23:15that we mentioned about it in the beginning,23:17it's our way of preparing for Shabbat,23:19and all it takes is ten minutes a day.23:21It's not a lot of time,23:23ten minutes a day.23:24You know, we do,23:25we could waste.23:26You know, there's a Mishnah23:28that says in Pirkei Avot,23:31Hatkein atzmecha lilmod Torah. Prepare yourself to learn Torah.23:33It doesn't say,23:34Go learn Torah.23:35It says,23:36Hatkein atzmecha lilmod Torah. Why does it say23:37prepare yourself?23:38And the answer is23:39because the yetzer hara is much smarter than us.23:41He's way ahead of us.23:42We're thinking,23:43you know, we want to learn,23:43we'd love to learn,23:44but the yetzer hara knows much better.23:46He knows if you're going to sit down to learn,23:48you're going to learn.23:49So his job is23:56make sure that you don't even have the time to sit down to learn. So he gets us busy with all different kinds of things and nonsense. If you take upon yourself, you metaken yourself, you prepare yourself to learn.24:00And from the beginning, then you'll be able to find time to do a lot of things.24:04If a person doesn't have times designated, he will not be able to do anything.24:08He will not be able to accomplish, will not be able to learn.24:09You might be able to learn here and there, but you won't catch it.24:12The Gemara says in Masechet Shabbat, a person comes up to24:16Shamayim, the question that they ask him, not the first one. The second question that they ask him is,24:21Kavata itim laTorah. The question is, have you set time for learning?24:24They don't ask him, Did you learn?24:25Of course, did you learn? Of course he's going to say, Yeah, I24:27learned. If you're blessed with a good head, you're able to cover learning more than other people.24:31That's not what they ask in24:34Shamayim. What is so important to you that you're able to designate time?24:37Work. We all know work is important to people,24:39and therefore they have times when they go to work.24:41If they get a phone call, Hashem somebody, and the answer is,24:43I'm at work now. I can't speak. I'm in a meeting. I can't speak.24:46Our learning has to be in the same way.24:51Kavata itim laTorah. Have you set time for learning Torah?24:54That's the question that will be asked in24:56Shamayim. Hok leYisrael is a way, if a person sets time to cover the25:02Hok leYisrael, that's at least a little bit, a little bit of doing this25:05halacha, which is also brought down in Shulchan Aruch, of25:09kviat itim laTorah. Seven to ten minutes, not longer.25:10Now I made it seven.25:11It's really six to ten minutes. A person could accomplish so much,25:14and so easy. Just do it right after25:16Shacharit. You could do it on the way to work.25:18Hopefully you're not driving.25:19If you're driving, don't do it on your phone.25:20But if you're sitting in the car with somebody else, or on the train,25:24and you have it on your phone, you have it in the small pocketbooks, you could do it.25:28That's our25:30kviat itim laTorah, the minimum, of course. A person should try to set at least an hour in the morning,25:34an hour in the evening.25:35But if you can't do that, at least start with over here.25:37It's a small thing.25:38Like the Chida says, within ten minutes you could cover so much.25:41This is25:44Hok leYisrael. I believe you covered the halachot and the idea behind it.25:48If anybody has questions, you could call in.25:49We're going to take a small musical break for about two to three minutes,25:52and then we'll come back. Asat Hashem,25:55we're going to be speaking about the next25:58preparation of Maaseh for Shabbat,26:00a very special mitzvah and very dear to all the Jewish people throughout history,26:04the halachot of hadlakat nerot Shabbat,26:07candle lighting on Shabbat.26:08And, bezrat Hashem, we'll see you right after this musical break.29:22כוכבים למעלה זורחים, ושערי שמיים פתוחים, ותפילה נישאת באוויר, להינשא הלילה. Back, Parashat Noach in the Ben Ish Chai. Let me just give you the numbers before we begin, the numbers to the studio if you want to call in if you have a question on the halachot, any halachot that we're talking about, and even any things in halacha, if we're able to answer, we'll try to answer it. You can call into the studio, 718-683-5858, and the text is 347-927-8398. If you want to text in any question in halacha, you can text it into that number. We're going to talk now, b'ezrat Hashem, from now and for the next couple of weeks on the halacha of hadlakat nerot. Hadlakat nerot is a special mitzvah. It's a mitzvah deRabbanan. It was instituted by the chachamim, and it's special to the Jewish people because that's the first sign of ushering in the Shabbat, of bringing in the Shabbat. And anybody who knows, when you look a little bit at the candles...32:00It gives you a certain sense of serenity and peace.32:04Every picture almost that wants to depict the picture of Shabbat shows candles,32:09whether somebody's lighting them or not.32:11That's a picture of candles of Shabbat.32:15That's the way we have it,32:17Baruch Hashem, that's been instilled even to the point that in America,32:20you have, I think, different radio stations, the bigger ones even,32:24they'll announce what time candle lighting is.32:25I believe the non-Jewish papers also will put what time candle lighting.32:28For the Jewish people to put, for the Jewish newspapers to put what time candle lighting,32:32that's not a32:33chiddush. But to put it in the non-Jewish newspapers, that's also something, that's a bigger32:39chiddush. Anyway, we will be talking about a lot of these halachot, na'aseh Hashem.32:43I just want you to know some very important things before we begin.32:46Number one, that is that the mitzvot, the halachot of Halakat Nerot32:52that we'll be learning from the Ben32:54Ish Chai, and really the sources that come from the Gemara and from the Shulchan Aruch,32:59all of these halachot were made originally in a world where there was no electricity33:06and did not have any electrical lights.33:10Nowadays that we have lights and we have all these different things,33:14so the halachot will be very interesting, and we have to see how exactly they coincide.33:18So that's number one.33:19We will first learn the basics.33:20First, let's learn what to do, how to light candles,33:23and then when we start, when something comes up33:28where there's a conflict between the way we have it today because of electricity or not,33:32from then on, then we'll explain how to do it in different ways.33:35That's number one.33:35Number two is the mitzvah of Halakat Nerot is so dear and so special to us33:40that sometimes we might become closed-minded and we don't want to hear,33:43This is the way we're doing it. This is our minhag. We don't want to change.33:46I'm not quoting anything on my own.33:47I'm quoting everything that I tell you comes from books, from places,33:50and sometimes, you know, people might be making,33:53although this was a custom that they had, their mothers had and their grandmothers had,33:56maybe it wasn't33:58al פי הלכה. So therefore I ask from the beginning, any34:00mechilah, I don't mean to come down on any minhag or anything.34:04I'll try to explain all the different types of minhagim and what's the preferable way of doing it,34:07but at the same time I request the person should be a little bit more34:11open-minded to make sure that the halachot are done properly.34:13We have a phone call.34:15Okay, we have a phone call.34:17Let me see.34:18Hello?34:20Yes, hi.34:21I had a question regarding lighting candles.34:24If Shabbos started and I didn't get a chance to light candles, what do I do?34:29Shabbos started and you didn't get a chance to light candles,34:31so then there's not much you can34:32do. I was driving.34:34Do I have to light for next week an extra candle, or—34:38Very good question.34:38Let me just repeat the question clearly.34:41Somebody missed the time of candle lighting,34:43and by the time they got to light candles, it was already after Shabbos.34:46It was after34:47shkiah. In America, the time for candle lighting is usually 18 minutes before34:52shkiah and before sunset.34:53After sunset, it's34:55assur. It's a34:56safek if it's kares. It's a very big sin to light after sunset.35:00The question is, now that I missed candle lighting, what do I do?35:03So there's a difference if you're Ashkenaz or35:06Sefardish. We're going to talk about that in details,35:08but let's say the Rama brings down35:11that according to the Ashkenazic custom,35:13they add an additional light from now on.35:16Some explain that you don't have to really add an additional light;35:19you could add more to the oil.35:22There's different ways.35:22We're going to talk about all that in detail.35:24We're going to cover all these areas.35:25But if a person did miss, and Ashkenaz at least for sure,35:30you should add an extra candle from now on.35:35Okay, first— Thank you.35:37Somebody's Sefardish. Go ahead.35:38One more question, if I may.35:40If you light in your house, depending on how many children you have,35:43but if you're going to someone's house as a35:45guest, do you have to light as many lights in your own home?35:48Excellent question.35:49Does a person have to light the same custom that he keeps in the house?35:53So let's say a person lights per children.35:55He has five children, so that's—and plus him and her and her husband,35:59so that's seven candles.36:00And now they're invited to somebody's house.36:02If the people who you're going by don't mind to give you—36:07And you don't feel uncomfortable to ask them,36:10it's not a problem.36:12But you don't have to.36:13If you feel uncomfortable to ask them,36:15especially they should pay for your extra candles,36:17so then you do not have to do it.36:19It's not a problem.36:22Thank you very much,36:23Rabbi. My pleasure.36:25Thank you.36:25Okay, you're welcome.36:27Okay.36:29We have another call.36:32Hello? Hello?36:33Hello?36:35Anybody there?36:37Hello?36:37Yes, I can hear you.36:38Go36:39ahead. Yeah, yeah, yeah.36:40I was just listening to the lady's question just now about if she missed the candle.36:45Yes.36:45She missed the day,36:46and then we're saying that she has to, you know, she adds on a candle every week from there on.36:52The only thing is that I read one time an interesting thing,36:55and that is36:56if it's36:58bein hashmashot, that means let's say36:59if it was, let's say shekia was37:02six o'clock, just to make it simple, right?37:03And let's say she realizes,37:06oh boy, it's already37:08six, six-oh-five, and it's not happening,37:10because she should ask a goy to do it,37:13because37:14bein hashmashot you're allowed to ask a37:16goy, you know,37:17to do melacha for you.37:19And37:20if she asks a goy to do it during37:23bein hashmashot, whatever,37:24let's say the first fifteen minutes37:25for sure,37:27till 6:15 for sure,37:28maybe even more than that,37:29but let's say for sure37:30the first fifteen minutes37:31she asks37:32a goy, and then that's it.37:33And then37:34she would not have to,37:35you know,37:35do another candle37:39every week.37:39That's one point.37:41And then just another point I want to make,37:42that sometimes it could happen,37:43you know,37:44especially now37:44going towards the37:45short37:46Shabbos, you know,37:47it becomes a big test for women,37:49especially, you37:50know, when candle lighting37:51reaches37:51sometimes37:534:10 and— A shkiyah is37:544:30, that's the earliest to get,37:56and let's say,37:56you know,37:594:29, and,38:00you know,38:02they're scared of the38:03... Oh boy,38:04if I don't light right now,38:06you know,38:06oh boy,38:07I mean, they gotta light38:08forever another one.38:10So38:10it becomes a major test for them38:13of ... and,38:14you know,38:14the38:15yetzer hara has to be very38:16strong about them38:17not to do that.38:19So38:20if they would know this38:21idea, you know,38:22they would know about this,38:23that,38:24okay,38:24so,38:24you know,38:24you're not sure about the time,38:25it's too close,38:26you're not sure,38:27so just get it going,38:30you know,38:30and then it's okay.38:32You38:33got it going, and goodbye,38:33you know,38:33let him light.38:35Let me just explain to you,38:36what you're saying is very good.38:38Let me just explain to you38:39the concept of38:40lighting38:41by Bnos Mashot38:42and telling somebody to light.38:43I don't believe her question was,38:45What could I do?38:45It sounds like she missed it already,38:47and she wants to know now,38:48now that I missed candle lighting,38:49what should I do?38:50So38:50that's the answer that she has to continue.38:53In other words,38:54she reached shkiyah already.38:55Right, true, true, yes.38:56Although you could get somebody to light candles,38:58and38:59it's not such a simple thing.39:01What you're saying is correct,39:02yes,39:02it is brought down39:03100%,39:04but39:05I'm going to talk about this in depth.39:07To answer the question very quickly,39:09the Rama brings such39:10a custom.39:11It's more39:12shayach to the39:14Ashkenazim.39:15Sefardim, it's not so simple39:16if they accept it or not.39:17Number two is with electricity today,39:18I don't know if we could be39:20koneh, if we could give39:22a knas39:22to somebody,39:22like some sort of39:25punishment,39:25if you want to call it,39:27if they missed it.39:27So that's another concept that we're going to speak about.39:29I don't want to go in depth in it right now.39:31I just told her, in short,39:32that's what the Rama brings39:33if they're Ashkenazim.39:33Number two is that39:34what you mentioned39:35is, yes,39:36people have to be careful.39:38That's why we have candle lighting time,39:39and there's sirens that go off in Brooklyn,39:41that person has to be on.39:42And it's a very important point that you mentioned.39:43I thank you39:44for bringing it up,39:46especially now that we're going into these short39:49Shabbatos, a person,39:49yes,39:49should be very careful39:50to make sure39:53to prepare himself.39:54Like we mentioned before39:54about learning Torah,39:55a person has to prepare himself.39:57Also, women should make an extra effort,39:58and it's not easy,39:59you should know.40:00It's very hard for the people. Thank you very much. Thank you very much for the show. I love it. I always enjoy it. Thank you very much. I appreciate it. Thank you very much.40:07We have another call. Hello?40:09Hello. Yes. Yeah, I was wondering, like, we're talking about40:16Plag HaMincha. Yes.40:17So, Maran and the Mabul ask like Rabbeinu Tam. I never understood. Good question. Why don't we follow40:24that? Excellent question. Okay. This is really a subject for, believe it or not, for Pashas Lech Lecha.40:30We're doing Parshas Noach in the Ben Ish Chai. I'm going al ha-seder, but I'll answer you just very, very quickly.40:35In Parshas Lech Lecha, we can talk about Kabbalas Shabbos, we can talk about all the different preparations,40:39and we might touch upon it also later on,40:42Parshas Noach. What we talk about is in siman40:45רסא from Maran. Let me just tell the listeners who are not as knowledgeable as you are.40:48From the Shulchan Aruch, it seems like—and not seems like, but clearly the Shulchan Aruch seems to rule—that the sunset is not the one that we see,40:57not the one that's written on the calendar. Sunset is much later on, really.41:00And I believe the minhag was in the olden days, I know in Europe,41:05the Satmar Rav, for example, in Hungary, in all these places, actually they went with this halacha, l'chumra and41:12l'kula, which means they accepted Shabbos much later than other people do.41:14In fact, till today, you go into some shtiebels and shuls, those who follow the Chassidish halachos, whatever,41:22you'll see that they daven Mincha much later on.41:25However, we are machmir, we're stringent, because Shabbos is safek de'oraisa. It's not just41:33de'oraisa. The punishment for one who's mechalel Shabbos is much more severe than any other punishment.41:39It's skila, right? There's four ways that the Beis Din executes.41:42The worst punishment of execution is skila,41:47and skila is—excuse me—Shabbos is punishable by skila.41:52So therefore we're very stringent41:54when shkiya comes, because there's a machlokes, because there's difference of opinion41:58when Shabbos, when bein hashmashos begins.42:01So therefore we're going to be machmir like the shitas42:04haGeonim, like the opinion of the Geonim, who are brought down also in the Beis Yosef and all the42:09Acharonim, who hold that Shabbos, bein hashmashos begins once sunset, once the sun sets, which is what we call42:17shkiya, and therefore we have to make sure that we light even before that.42:21Regarding the times of candle lighting in America and42:24Eretz Yisrael, we can talk about that, be'ezras Hashem, at the time when we come to it.42:27Is that sufficient for now?42:31Yeah, I mean, yeah, it's very uncommon to...42:37So we do42:39it l'chumra. True, we always follow the mechaber42:42and the sefardim, kabalnu horaot Maran, but still,42:46l'chumra, there's a lot of times when we pasken against the Shulchan Aruch42:49l'chumra, like in brachos as well, because safek brachos42:52lehakel, because bracha, if a person says it when it's not necessary, it's an42:56issur d'oraisa according to a lot of Rishonim. So we say42:58safek brachos lehakel even against the Shulchan Aruch, even against the Mechaber.43:02That's even Sefardim, okay?43:07Okay. Yes, another call. Hello?43:10Hello.43:11Yes.43:12Yes, I'm a little unsure of how to light candles properly.43:18First you light them, then you make the43:21bracha, then you cover your eyes after the43:26bracha, and you open your eyes to see the neiros and say Gut Shabbos. Is that correct?43:34What you're mentioning is a big subject.43:37That's one of the things that I have on my notes43:40to speak about. When the blessing—I'm going to use the English terms43:44so everybody can43:46understand—when the blessing should be recited over candle lighting,43:48should it be before or after lighting the candles?43:52There are different customs from your43:53ex, and it sounds like you're Ashkenaz.43:56Yes. So therefore, the custom by the Ashkenazim,43:59by the majority of Ashkenazim, not all of them,44:01is that they light first,44:04and then they cover with their hands the candles,44:07they recite the blessing,44:09and then they move their hands.44:11I'm gonna... Speak about this,44:14be'ezrat Hashem. We hope to cover this subject in depth.44:17I hope I don't lose most people when we talk about it.44:19But what you mentioned, the way I just mentioned to you right now,44:22to light the candles,44:24to cover, to put your hands over the candles,44:27and then to recite the blessing44:29is the custom for the Ashkenazim.44:32Uh-huh. But women are noheg to keep their eyes covered44:36when they continue davening afterwards.44:39I'm sorry?44:40Women are noheg to keep their eyes covered44:43when they're davening afterwards?44:43Yeah, you can do that. That's fine.44:45But you open them to look at the neiros first?44:49After you make the44:50bracha, you should.44:52So because according to the opinion that says44:55you should do what you should do,44:56it's that you should have44:58hana'ah, you should have a benefit from the lights.44:59So you're covering not to have any pleasure from the lights,45:02not to have any benefit.45:04Once you made the blessing, you should have the benefit then.45:07Uh-huh. Okay. Okay. Thank you so much.45:12Kol tuv. Okay,45:14we got a text message:45:15stick to the Ashkenazic accent.45:18Okay.45:20We'll come back, yes,45:21we'll come back to the Sefardi accent,45:24Ashkenazic. Okay. Parashat Noach, like we said,45:27we're talking about candle lighting.45:28We have ten minutes,45:30be'ezrat Hashem. Let's get into the45:32halachot, and like I mentioned,45:34these are very, very important.45:35There are a lot of important45:37halachot, and45:37be'ezrat Hashem, if you follow through from the beginning to the45:40end of all these45:41halachot, I believe you'll have a better understanding45:43of all the different minhagim, all the different customs,45:50and of how what the halacha should be. And of course, like we mentioned45:51from the first time we gave this class,45:53it's a halacha class,45:54and there are many different minhagim.45:56And if a person is unsure of something45:57that we said over here,45:59please check it out with your rabbi.46:00If you have a competent rabbi,46:01if you have a rabbi that you trust,46:03you should check it out,46:03or your family's rabbi,46:05to see exactly if your custom46:07is according to46:08the46:08halacha. Be'ezrat Hashem, the purpose from the halacha that we're giving46:20is that you should have a very good understanding of the subject. And an understanding of sometimes where the halacha may seem different from other people, okay?46:22Let me give you a small introduction46:24before we get to the halachot inside.46:26The first thing is that we got to know46:27is why is there such an institution?46:30Why, we've said it's rabbinical,46:32the chachamim instituted that we should light candles.46:35Why did the46:37chachamim institute that a person should light candles46:39for Shabbat?46:40Obviously, you're lighting before Shabbat;46:41you can't light on Shabbat.46:42And the answer is46:44there are a few different reasons that are given,46:47but they all pretty much fall under the two categories.46:50Number one is46:51oneg Shabbat,46:52and this also includes kavod Shabbat,46:54the honor of Shabbat and having pleasure on Shabbat.46:55What does that mean, oneg Shabbat?46:57Well, did you ever try to eat a meal46:59when it's completely dark?47:02Yeah, you don't enjoy the meal so much.47:04You want to see what you eat.47:05People, when they make weddings,47:07what's the difference if you make it47:08by this caterer or that caterer?47:09Sometimes the caterers charge47:11maybe triple amount the price,47:17and you know why? It's all for setup. You go to a fancy restaurant, you're getting the same,47:18almost the same type of steak,47:20almost the same type of food,47:21but the way they have some person47:23working in the back and he styles the food,47:26you get it in such an amazing setup,47:28and it looks much nicer.47:29It's more chashuv, it's more important,47:31and therefore it's pleasurable to see food.47:35That's the same way.47:36You know, there's an appetite by the person's47:39stomach, and there's also an appetite for the eyes.47:40Something has to be appetizing to the eyes as well.47:43Oneg Shabbat,47:44we want you, the47:47chachamim wanted you to enjoy Shabbat. Shabbat should be a day of enjoyment and pleasure,47:50and we know that we're physical people47:51and we enjoy what we see.47:53So therefore, chachamim said47:54light the candles, and specifically47:55where you're going to eat, so you could see your47:58food and enjoy the way your food looks.48:00Besides just the taste in the taste buds, we want to also see it.48:03Also, kavod Shabbat, the honor of Shabbat.48:05Why is it an honor for Shabbat?48:07Well, think about it. If somebody is coming to the house,48:09and usually you have three different light fixtures that you put on in the house.48:13Somebody important is coming to your house,48:14your in-laws, hopefully they're important to you.48:17So if your in-laws are coming to you,48:20so then you would put on all the lights in the house.48:25Somebody chashuv is coming to you, a great rabbi is coming to you, you48:28put on all the lights.48:28In honor of somebody coming, you put on all the lights.48:31Even once upon a time when there was no electricity,48:33and you put on candles, the more candles that you put on,48:36the more light there is and the more chashuv it looks.48:39So that's why Shabbat is coming,48:41the Shechinah is going to be here.48:43We're going to spend the special day,48:44the next 26 hours, 25 hours with Hashem,48:47so we put on extra lights to give it the aura of Shabbat,48:51to give honor to the Shechinah that's coming.48:53That's one reason it's given, oneg and kavod Shabbat.48:56The other famous reason that everybody knows about:48:59Shabbat candles are because of shalom bayit, right?49:02So what does this shalom bayit mean?49:04A lot of people think, Oh, if I light candles,49:06I'll let my wife have this mitzvah.49:07She won't nag me, and she has something to do.49:09She's busy, and I won't have a problem,49:11and we won't fight. We'll have shalom bayit.49:12That's not the meaning of shalom bayit over here.49:14I don't know, maybe it's segulah; you can say whatever you want.49:16But shalom bayit, the simple pashut, simple explanation of shalom bayit is49:21when you don't have light, you don't see. Okay,49:23and if he can't see, you're going to bump into things.49:27And as people, we always justify what we do.49:30We are never wrong.49:31So it's more likely that if a person walks in his house49:35and there's no lights and he bumps himself49:37and his knee hurts or his foot hurts,49:38the first person he's going to blame is his wife,49:41and then his kids, because he can't be wrong, right?49:44Who put this thing over there?49:45Who left his shoes around here that I had to trip on them, right?49:48Why don't you look in front of you?49:49No, no, that can't be.49:50It's not my fault. It's always somebody else's fault.49:52So Chachamim said, put your lights on in the house.49:54Do me a favor, put your lights on in the house.49:56Don't trip on a stone. Don't trip on rocks.49:59Don't trip on your table,50:01or don't bump into the table.50:03See where you're going.50:04When you have light, you're going to see where you're going.50:05You're not going to bump.50:06You're not going to make fights over Shabbat.50:08You're going to be happy.50:09You can see where you're going.50:10You're not going to get hurt.50:12And therefore, that is the idea of shalom bayit.50:14Shalom bayit, we should have light in the house,50:15we should see where we're going,50:17nobody should get hurt physically,50:18and then of course, the anger will not be taken out50:22on somebody else afterwards emotionally.50:24Those are the two reasons of lighting on Shabbat,50:27Hanukkah and kavod Shabbat and shalom bayit.50:29Included, by the way, in this, when lighting,50:32also the other reasons are brought down,50:33although they're not the major reasons,50:34is that when a person sees what he eats,50:37he can make sure that what he eats is kosher.50:40What does that mean?50:41Once upon a time, when, you know, bugs were everywhere,50:44especially in the summer,50:45and you're coming to eat at night,50:47there could be bugs all over,50:47and if a bug falls into your food,50:49how are you going to see it?50:50You're going to end up eating50:51the issur de'oraita of eating bugs.50:54So therefore, put on lights50:55so you should see your food,50:56you should see if something crawls in there,50:58walks in there,50:59and you could obviously avoid it and not eat it.51:02That is some of the extra reasons are brought down.51:06Of course, there's other reasons of tikkunim and orot,51:09and all these things are kabbalistic.51:10We're going with the primary reasons.51:11It's important to keep this in mind,51:13these two reasons, Hanukkah and shalom bayit,51:15because they will have a lot of ramifications in51:20halacha. Now really at this point51:21we should begin the51:23halachot, but I'm looking at the time51:24and I see I only have a few minutes,51:27and if I start the51:29halacha, I really do not like to interrupt it in the middle.51:32So what I'm going to do is51:33I'm going to stop the halacha class over here,51:36b'ezrat Hashem. I'm going to announce the numbers again one more time.51:38Numbers are51:40718-683-5858.
