We are broadcasting live on JRootRadio.com, a week before0:07Rosh Chodesh Adar Bet.0:11Okay, first let's give you the number, 718-683-5858. That's the number to the studio.0:16You can call in towards the end of the class. Today we are excited. You know why we're excited? Because,0:21like we said last week, last week we almost finished Hilchot מוקצה. I believe today we will be finishing the0:30halachot of מוקצה, bezrat Hashem. It's going to be very, very exciting from the Ben0:35Ish Chai, and we're going to make a l'chaim at the end,0:38bezrat Hashem, and we'll talk about what we're going to do next. The number to text in is0:44347-927-8398. We have one more halacha to bring up to discuss. That's the halacha of0:50בסיס לדבר האסור ומותר. We'll explain everything, bezrat Hashem, soon.0:54But I just want to make a very, very, very quick announcement, and the announcement is as follows.1:00Hilchot מוקצה are not easy. They're very complicated.1:03I know some people are a little bit tired of it to hear constantly Hilchot מוקצה sounds repetitious.1:09Those who are following really a long time, along the whole time,1:12really will see that it's really not repetitious at all. There's a lot, a lot of detail.1:17But we tried as much as we can here on the Halacha Hour to try to organize it, to try as much that we could1:24make it simple and in a way that you'll be able to1:29understand what to do on Shabbat. That's the important thing at the end of the day.1:32It's not that you just know the knowledge, but you know how to act. Hilchot Shabbat are,1:38you know, more than anything else, you can't ask, really. A lot of times, a lot of things that come up on Shabbat come up in1:43your house, and you need to know how to act. You can't text a rabbi, What1:48beracha? You know, that's—you need to know on Shabbat. During the week, you can text him, Rabbi,1:52what do you make over here? What beracha? You call up the rabbi, what do you do? Shabbat, especially1:57in מוקצה, which, like we said, comes up more than any other area of Hilchot Shabbat, a2:02person needs to know what to do and how to size up the situation exactly,2:07what the situation is and what is required. So therefore...2:11Therefore, we spent a lot of time on the Halachot of muktzeh. The happy announcement,2:17betzad that we're finishing today, the happy announcement is that we are planning to make an MP3 CD.2:25The reason why an MP3, we want to fit it all on one CD, all the classes2:29specifically on Halachot muktzeh, a little bit edited because some of the classes did not go clear.2:34We came the next week and we clarified it. We want to put them all on one CD, the Halachot2:40muktzeh. It's around 20 classes, not sure exactly how; we didn't go through it yet. And2:44we are making an email for those who are interested in the class.2:50If anybody is interested in that CD, actually, for all the classes on Halachot muktzeh, email us.2:57I don't have exactly, I don't know if the email went through yet, if it was set up yet,3:01so I can't tell you the exact email yet. But it's going to be something along3:06halacha@jewishradio.com. We don't have it exactly yet, but in any case, we are offering the CD.3:11We ask also that, you know, the Jewish Radio station that is helping us3:17teach Torah and spread the wisdom of Torah3:20could use a lot of the money, could use a lot of our help in general. So therefore, with a donation of3:27$26 to Jewish Radio, we will send you the CD. We'll mail it to your house if you want to come pick it up,3:33besimcha rabah. Really, we'd love to give it out for free, even. Just want to give a little bit, you know,3:37an incentive for people to give to this wonderful, wonderful organization and worthy cause.3:42And that's why, you know, with a little bit of help,3:44it could go from maaseh, the CD is a gift,3:47it's a matanah, and you give a little bit of your maaseh towards the station,3:51we'll send you one gladly and happily. Now, we want to come back now. We are talking about halachot of3:58basis l'davar haasur vhamutar. It's the last halacha.4:01Now we're going to be talking, or go through in the Ben Ish Chai, Ben Ish Chai, Parashat Vayigash,4:07Halacha Yud Bet. In short, we're going to review just what we did very quickly of the laws of basis.4:13The laws of basis in muktzeh teach us that if you have an item that's not muktzeh at all,4:20not muktzeh, it's a kli שמלאכתו להיתר, and then what happens is that this4:27kli שמלאכתו להיתר ends up with a muktzeh item on top of it, such as4:33muktzeh מחמת גופו, like the mashal we've been giving, money in a bowl. The bowl is4:37kli שמלאכתו להיתר, and then you have money, which is muktzeh מחמת גופו, in it. The kli, the bowl itself,4:45becomes transformed into a muktzeh מחמת גופו, like the money. The bowl, as far as4:53muktzeh status, becomes like the money. This could also be true even when the money somehow falls off4:59of the bowl. When, we said the conditions last week, if it's placed on purpose by the owner,5:05with the intention that it should be there for the coming of Shabbat,5:09that is the way you transform the bowl into muktzeh מחמת גופו for that entire Shabbat,5:15even when the money comes off. In a case where it was not placed on purpose, or it was not placed5:19that should be there for Shabbat, or the person forgot it there, he happens to end up there,5:25all these cases, the bowl will be like the money as long as the money is in it.5:32But if you need the bowl itself, you could shake out the money, you could use the bowl for whatever5:37you like, or if the money somehow falls off, or somebody picks up the money off the bowl,5:43then that bowl becomes back to its original status of5:51kli שמלאכתו להיתר. Now, basically the דבר האסור והיתר is along the same lines that we just spoke about.5:57The only thing is, the box now contains something mutar and something that's6:03muktzeh. So let's go through the halacha first in the Ben Ish Chai. Let's just finish the words,6:06and then, בעזרת השם, we'll bring up all the different opinions that are on the subject,6:13and then we'll hopefully summarize, clarify, and then hopefully the last maybe 20 minutes of the6:18class, we are going to bring up some special cases, some cases that have happened to me,6:23some cases where people have asked about it, cases basically that get us thinking,6:28reviewing all of the halachot of muktzeh, putting it, you know, compacting it all into basically one big6:33review in the little bit of time that we will have left. Let's go. Halacha6:41Yud Bet. תיבה שיש בה חפצים שהם דבר המותר. You have a box. It has things inside of it that are דבר המותר. You have a box where you store6:47things in there, and you have inside of it a kippah, you have tzitzit, you have your socks,6:53okay? ויש בה מעות גם כן. And guess what? You also put money in the same box. This could be like a drawer in a7:02dresser. It could be a drawer in your desk. Now, the halacha tells us like this:7:13אם המעות חשובים אצלו יותר מן החפצים, אסור לטלטל התיבה. This box that contains your socks, it contains your tzitzit and kippah, all which are7:19כלי שמלאכתו להיתר, and also contains money, which is מוקצה מחמת גופו. This box is known in7:24halacha as בסיס לדבר האסור והמותר. The box is a basis. It's holding that which is forbidden, which is the money.7:33It's holding which is mutar, your socks and your kippah. So what's the status now of the box itself?7:40Halacha says we go by what's more important to you. What is more important to you right now?7:45Is it the money or is it your socks? If it's a lot of money, for example, you have a stack,7:52you just got paid, woo, Friday payday, and you came home and you took your stack of hundreds,7:57or if you're a teenager, your stack of fives, you know.8:00And you put in, let's say you have about $1,500, $3,000 of money. It doesn't have to be that number.8:05It's whatever is important to you. You put in that box. So you tell me now what's more important to you.8:10Even though you can't use it on Shabbat, but what's more important to you now?8:14If the money is more important to you, then we say that the box is basis.8:23It has the status of basis, which means even if the money is removed and there's only socks now inside,8:30since the money was placed in there to be there for Shabbat and you wanted it to be there for Shabbat,8:37so therefore the halacha tells us that the box also becomes a basis,8:41although, even though, excuse me, even though the socks are also there.8:47V'hu ha-din, says the Ben Ish Chai, the same would apply in machashivuta asur mutar b'shaveh. If both of them are equal,8:53they're of equal importance, the socks and the money.8:57For example, you have seven pairs of socks and you have also $50.9:03What's more important to you? More important to you? Not really.9:07The $50 right now is not more important to me. You could care less.9:11It's a little bit, you know, it's not so important to you right now on9:13Shabbat. By the way, as a side point, Rav Moshe Feinstein, the Grot Moshe, says9:18when we come to define what's more important to you, we don't say what's more important to you in general.9:23Of course everybody will take the money over the9:25socks. $50 over seven pairs of socks, I'll get, you know, 50 pairs of socks with $50.9:30No. The question is what's more important to you now on Shabbat.9:34Again, keep in mind, even though I may not be using the muktzeh, it could still be that the money is more important to me.9:39It's more chashuv. It's, I care about it now that nothing should happen to it.9:43So that's how we judge it. Now, you know, what's more important to you at that moment,9:48it could be different moments of Shabbat, something else will be more important to9:51you. For example, if you don't care about the socks, you're not using the9:54socks, so you could care less about the money or the9:56socks. So in that case, the money will have more importance. It will be more important for you.10:02So then the basis follows what's more important to you. That moment when we're coming to judge the case.10:08Says over here the halacha. And bin ish chai there is. If the item that's muktzeh is more important than the item that's not muktzeh in our mashal,10:20the money is more important than your10:23socks, so then the box, which is holding, containing, which is holding the money and the socks, the box is a basis.10:30It follows the money and has all the laws of basis that remains muktzeh like the money throughout the entire Shabbat.10:36However, if the socks are more important, nobody disagrees.10:39If the socks are more important, then although it has money, but since it's a basis,10:45the דבר האסור ומותר, so we give it the status of a basis לדבר האסור ומותר, which means it's not fully10:52muktzeh. We talk about what you have to do with that box later on.10:55But if somehow the money ends up out of the box sometime on Shabbat,11:00the box is completely, completely mutar. It's a kli שמלאכתו להיתר, like it used to be.11:06What about if they're both equal? The socks and the money are equal value to you, or of equal importance to you at that moment on Shabbat.11:14So in that case, most Acharonim, like the Ben Ish Chai over here,11:18Mishnah Berurah, Ben11:23Ish Chai, Kaf HaChaim, Menuchat Ahavah, they all hold that the item, the box, is also asur because it's important.11:31The money is also important to you, so it becomes a basis, even though they're of equal value.11:37Hacham Ovadia does bring a list of Acharonim and some deyukim from others11:43that if the box is a basis לדבר האסור ומותר and both the muktzeh and non-muktzeh inside the box are of equal importance to11:53you, now those who hold that it's going to be a12:00kli שמלאכתו להיתר. There are such opinions out there, but he himself concludes,12:06המקל יש לו על מה לסמוך. Those who are lenient, they have what to rely on.12:09Sounds like the lashon of a deiavad, especially when you have a lot of the main Acharonim the other way.12:13When they hold that, no, if it's equal value, it will be a basis; it will be forbidden.12:20Now, you have to keep a few things in mind when it comes to halachah of12:26basis לדבר האסור. Let me give you first a few examples, that way you know what we're talking about.12:29You have a drawer in your house, and in that drawer you have all your electronic equipment in there.12:34You put your phone, you put your wires, your cables, everything.12:38So that drawer itself, since it's made to hold all these items,12:42it's made to hold your cell phone, it's made to put your money in there, all the12:45muktzeh, that drawer is muktzeh. You can't pull it out.12:47It's a basis12:49לדבר האסור. If you have another person has a drawer in his dresser, and he opens up the drawer12:54and he sees that inside of it, what was there?12:57Usually this place is supposed to be where his undershirts are.12:59He sees that he put his money. He remembers13:02Erev Shabbos, he put his money right before Shabbat,13:04he forgot, and he put his money right there in that drawer.13:07So that case, the drawer will never become a basis13:12לדבר האסור, because you forgot about it. You weren't even thinking.13:14That's what we said the Beit Yosef holds over here,13:16that since you didn't want it to be there for Shabbat, you forgot.13:19You just happened to place it there.13:21The drawer, even if there was nothing else except for the money,13:24the drawer is not13:25muktzeh. We're talking about a case where a person has a drawer13:29that he uses for all types of things.13:31He puts money inside, he puts his cell phone inside,13:34both which are13:36muktzeh, but he also puts other things that are not muktzeh inside that drawer.13:39He puts other valuable things that he has,13:43like his weekday kippah, his tzitzit,13:46his, I don't know, his ties in there.13:48So it contains things that are both important to you and not important to you.13:51So now on Shabbat, you want to open the13:53drawer and take out the tie.13:55So that's what's basis13:58לדבר האסור. We tell you, Mr. or Mrs.14:00or Miss, am I covering everybody?14:02Okay, good.14:02So now, what is more important to you right now,14:06that which is mukseh14:07or that which is not mukseh?14:09And that's how you're going to determine the status of your drawer.14:14If what's more important to you is mukseh,14:16the money, your cell phone,14:18even though your ties are also there,14:20no, that's it.14:21Now your drawer is mukseh.14:25But if your tie is more important,14:27your socks are more important14:29than the money right now,14:30so then your drawer is not mukseh,14:33because the basis14:36davar ha'asur u'mutar. We have a few points to point out over here.14:38Number one14:39is that the item in question here,14:42which is the drawer in our case,14:44has to be something that's made to hold the issur and heter together.14:47You can't just take something that's made completely for14:51issur and then chuck something14:52in there and say,14:52Oh, look, look, it's holding something together.14:54Give you an example.14:55Maran,14:56in Yoreh De'ah, siman tet, halacha gimel, he talks about candles and candlesticks.15:00So he's talking about a case where you have candlesticks15:03or a bowl that's usually made to light inside of it candles,15:06okay?15:07And in this bowl,15:08which is usually made to hold up the flame,15:10the flame is mukseh.15:12That's what Gemara says:15:13a flame, a fire, a real fire, a15:16flame is mukseh15:20machmat gufo. So when you have a case of a bowl15:23and you lit inside the bowl,15:25you lit the candle inside of it,15:28and now the flame came into Shabbat on the bowl,15:33so the bowl, which is a base for the oil,15:35the oil is holding up the wick,15:37the wick is holding up the fire,15:38everything over there is made for the fire,15:41that whole bowl becomes mukseh throughout the entire Shabbat,15:45even when the flame shuts off.15:47This is true for Ashkenazim and Sefardim as well.15:49Nobody argues on this.15:51Why?15:51Because the flame came into Shabbat as15:54muktzeh, and the bowl came in holding,15:56and it's meant to hold the flame.15:59So over there, Maran...16:02Says you can't say, you know what I'm going to take. He says some people make a mistake. They take a piece of bread and they put the piece of bread on the bowl or on the candlesticks.16:12So this way, before Shabbat, before Shabbat, they put the bread over there.16:16So this way, when Shabbat comes in, they say, Look,16:18the bowl, which usually is holding the oil and the fire, which is usually supposed to be16:25muktzeh. No, it's a basis,16:27the basis is assur u'mutar. It's holding up the muktzeh, the flame. It's also holding up the piece of bread.16:31Yeah, but that bowl is not meant for bread.16:33You're barely trying to balance out the bread on top of that bowl. It's not meant for that.16:38So therefore, Maran says in such a case it doesn't work.16:40The bread does not remove or does not change the status of the basis.16:47It's not meant to be there, even though the bread might be more important on Shabbat16:49because all you have is leftover oil and some burnt wicks.16:53Doesn't make a difference.16:55There's not a place for the bread.16:57Not like the case of the drawer.16:58The case of the drawer is a case where it's meant to hold your cell phone and your ties.17:04It's meant to hold your money and your socks.17:06So that's why it's a basis,17:09the basis is assur u'mutar. Candlesticks is not a place where you put bread or pieces of bread.17:14A bowl that you light inside of it is meant to hold a flame and the olive oil.17:20It's not meant to hold the bread.17:23So therefore it will not become a basis,17:27the basis is assur u'mutar, unless the basis itself is meant for both.17:32Next.17:33In the case where I have basis,17:36the basis is assur u'mutar, the halacha tells me that since the mutar is more important to me than the17:42issur, I'm allowed to move them together.17:44I'm allowed to pick them up together. I'm allowed to move it.17:48But I'm not allowed to pick them up and move them wherever I want.17:52If it's possible, again I stress, if it's possible,17:56I must try to first remove the muktzeh, shake it off of the basis,18:03and this way I could carry only the18:06heter. For example, I'll give you an example what the Gemara brings.18:08A person has a basket of fruits and there's a stone inside of it.18:11This stone was placed there; it should be there on Shabbat.18:13But now the basket is containing the fruits and the stone.18:18The stone is muktzeh machmat gufo.18:19The fruits are ochel.18:21Ochel is not even muktzeh; it's not even18:23kli she'melachto l'heter. It's never18:25muktzeh. And now you have the basket.18:27What is the status of the basket?18:29Usually it would be18:31kli she'melachto l'heter, but now that here holding the stone,18:34does it become like the stone, a basis18:37l'davar ha'asur, or to the fruits?18:38We come back to you and we ask you a18:40question: what's more important to you right now,18:42the stone or the fruits?18:44Of course, most people answer the fruits,18:46except for that wise guy in class18:47that says, No, the stone.18:49Okay, so the fruits are more important to you.18:51So the fruits that are more important to you,18:53it'll make the basket now18:55a basis18:56l'davar ha'asur mutar. I'm allowed to pick up the basket with the fruits and the18:59stone. Even I'm carrying the stone, it's fine,19:02but on one condition.19:03The one condition is that19:06I tried to get the stone out of the19:08basket and I couldn't, for whatever reason.19:10Why? Because maybe the fruits will fall and become dirty19:12and I can't clean it. In such a case,19:14then I could pick up the basket19:16together with the stone and the fruits.19:19But if the stone is sitting there19:20on top of the basket, I could shake off the19:23muktzeh, then I must do that first.19:25I must shake off the muktzeh before19:28I take19:29out the, what's it called,19:30before I carry the whole thing together.19:32Let's make it a little bit practical.19:35Raw food,19:36raw food,19:38which is inedible,19:40people don't eat it at all, raw,19:43is19:44muktzeh machmat gufo. It's raw,19:46and you're not going to give it to your animal either,19:48because you bought it for yourself.19:50Yeah, you only give the animals things that you're about to throw out,19:52but not raw food; you just haven't come to cook it yet.19:55So let's take an example of19:56something raw that people do not19:58eat unless it's cooked,20:01okay? It's hard to find,20:02believe it or not, because some people, you'll be shocked,20:04but people could eat and don't eat.20:06So let's say,20:08I spend more time in the20:10kitchen trying to come up with a mashal.20:11Okay, so I have a basket, you know, under the sink,20:14and over there I put inside of it,20:17you know, the, what's it called,20:18the sweet potato.20:19The sweet potato, nobody eats raw.20:21I've seen people eat raw, regular raw20:24potatoes, but sweet potato,20:26no, that's too hard.20:28You know, even the dogs won't eat it, I'm20:30kidding. But there are people who don't eat raw20:32sweet potato, okay?20:33It's not meant for human food; it's20:36muktzeh. So I have inside the basket20:38under the sink, I have onions,20:40which could be edible raw, as we slice20:42them, we put in the salad, right?20:43And I also have in the same basket, I also have20:47the potatoes.20:47I have like two, three sweet potatoes.20:50So now I'm making a big salad.20:52Can I pick up the whole basket20:54and bring it to the kitchen,20:55you know, on the kitchen table where I'm going to make my salad,20:58or must I pick out the onions by themselves?21:00So the halacha tells me what I must do21:03is, this basket is basis21:06l'davar ha'asur u'mutar, because clearly I wanted that21:08the potatoes should be there and the onions should be there together21:10for the entire Shabbat. That's its place.21:12So the halacha tells me21:14if I want to pick up everything,21:16first I must shake off the sweet potatoes,21:19if I can,21:20I have to shake them off.21:22And then bring it,21:24bring the, what's it called, the basket with the onions only21:27to the, what's it called,21:28to the kitchen table.21:30But if I can't shake them under the,21:32what's called, the sink, that's where I have my basket21:35of onions and sweet potatoes,21:37I can't shake it over there. Why?21:38Because if I do,21:41all the onions will fall out and they'll get ruined.21:43If the onions will also fall out, it's not a problem.21:45Drop everything,21:47flip over the basket,21:48let the onions and the sweet potatoes fall.21:50Pick up only the onions.21:52If I can do that, that's what halacha tells me to do.21:54I have to pick up only the21:56onions, put them in a basket, and now I can carry the basket21:58together with the onions to the kitchen table.22:01Now this is just a mashal,22:03an example,22:04but this is a very practical example. It does happen a lot,22:07where you want to make a salad.22:08You may have your onions, you may have your,22:10I don't think cucumbers, but you may have your things22:12all together. Some things are22:15muktzeh because they're22:16raw and they're inedible, and other things22:18are not muktzeh. So in that case,22:21if I have a basis,22:22I have to shake off the22:25issur first.22:27I have to shake off the issur,22:29taking, you know, remove it,22:31either by take everything22:32out of the basket by just flipping out22:34the basket, or shake it off,22:36and then the basket does not become22:41muktzeh. Okay, another22:42example. Let's give you another example.22:44If I have a bowl and I have cookies22:46inside the bowl, and I also have22:48money inside the bowl. Now,22:50I wanted that the money should be there for Shabbat.22:52Remember, if I never wanted the money to be there for Shabbat,22:54I completely forgot about it. Monday I came,22:56I had some coins in my pocket,22:58I went over to the bowl that has cookies,23:00and I just chucked some money inside of it,23:02and I forgot about it. That will never23:04make the bowl into a basis.23:07Because remember,23:08the main halacha basis is that23:10I need intention that23:12the mukzeh should be there for Shabbat.23:14So now here I forgot,23:16I mean, I put the money erev Shabbat with23:18intention that it should be there for Shabbat. I figured I'm not going to use this23:20bowl, and it also has cookies inside of it.23:23I come on Shabbat and I look at the bowl23:24and I see, ooh, a lot of cookies,23:26and I take out one cookie, which I'm allowed to take,23:28and I'm eating the cookie.23:30And all of a sudden I get—everybody says,23:32Hey, where'd you get that cookie from?23:34I said, The cookie?23:36Who took the cookie from the cookies? Me, of course.23:39What do you want?23:40He says, Bring the whole bowl, share. You know,23:42don't be—we Jews, we like to share. Bring it to the table.23:45I say, I can't. There's money inside of it.23:47The money that's inside the bowl,23:49the money that's inside the bowl23:53that has inside also the cookies,23:56the bowl itself is a basis,23:59the davar asur mutar. What's more important?24:00Point to me right now on Shabbat. Is it the cookies?24:04I'm the owner of the bowl, by the way. Is it my cookies or is it my money?24:08So if I have coins inside of the bowl, the cookies are obviously much more important.24:12Can I pick up the whole bowl with the money inside of it and the cookies, bring it to the table so everybody can have some of my cookies?24:17And the answer is yes. But like we said before, I have to try to first shake out the24:24muktzeh. If it's possible to shake out the muktzeh, I must do it in that spot.24:28If it's not possible, I can pick it up that way all the way and bring it to the table and let everybody enjoy the cookies.24:36Once the cookies finish, the coins inside the bowl now, what happens now?24:41What's the halacha of the coins inside the bowl?24:44The coins inside the bowl don't make the bowl a basis for the entire Shabbat,24:48but they will make the bowl a basis so long as the coins are on it.24:53Which means, if I need this bowl, if I need to use this bowl for something else, I want to put a soup inside of it,25:00and I have no other bowl, I might shake out the money. I could shake out the money,25:06and then I can use the bowl for whatever I like.25:10The bowl does not have the status of basis when the money is not inside of it.25:15Why? Because it came into Shabbat as something that's a basis25:18לדבר האסור ומותר. It didn't come as a basis just25:23לדבר האסור. And like we learned last week, when there's muktzeh inside of my bowl, when there's money inside of my bowl,25:30and it's not a basis, I can shake out the money from it and use the bowl.25:34And the same thing will be here.25:36When I finish my cookies, even though all I have are coins inside of my bowl,25:40the bowl is not a basis. If I need the bowl, I can shake out the25:45muktzeh. I keep on stressing if I need the bowl.25:48What do I mean when I say I need the bowl?25:50This is another25:52halacha. I think it's Rav Akiva Eiger who says that if a person has another option,25:57you don't need to use a basis.25:59That means in my case over here, I have a bowl. I have inside of it, I have cookies,26:02and inside of it I have coins.26:06I need the bowl now,26:08okay? So we said, shake out the money.26:10But if I have another option, I can use another bowl.26:14Go open the closet, open the other closet, you see another bowl?26:17Take another bowl. Why do you have to use this bowl?26:19If I have another option instead of the basis, I must take that first.26:23I must go get the other option and then come back and use it.26:28Up to now, I think we spoke about mainly, you know, we covered pretty much the halachot of basis, about26:34asur u'mutar. There's some points, though, we'd like to bring out regarding exceptions to the rules of basis.26:46Okay, let's like this.26:49If something is a kli שמלאכתו לאיסור and it has inside of it a26:57muktzeh, but the muktzeh is not made to be there.27:01Lemashal, okay, I have a dresser, and the dresser has inside of it, it has, what do you call27:08it, has drawers, and all the drawers are made for my clothing.27:10That's why I bought it for, for my clothing.27:12Money goes in my desk. The drawers are my desk.27:15And I put the money inside of the drawer thinking I'm going to keep it there for Shabbat,27:19but you know what? It's not made for it.27:21It's not made to hold the money.27:24It's in a way, this is not its place. It's not made for it.27:27Then it will not become basis.27:29That means somehow if somebody takes out the money from that drawer, even if it was empty,27:33the drawer will come back, will revert to its status of27:38kli שמלאכתו לאיסור. Another case is when the basis, which means this kli she'melachto l'heter that you're putting the muktzeh on,27:45is really part of a bigger kli it's made for that item,27:49also does not become27:51muktzeh. I'll give you the case in halacha that's brought down in Shulchan Aruch,27:54and then I'll give you a practical case.27:56The case is brought down in Shulchan Aruch: you have a door.27:59A door is made to open to let you inside the house and outside the house.28:02So you have these big old fat doors, and in the door itself28:06there's a slot where a person put a candle there, like a light.28:10So it was lit before Shabbat, and he wanted that the candle should be there, obviously, for the entire Shabbat.28:15The door will not become muktzeh because the door's main function is to open and close,28:22so to allow you to come inside the house28:24and out. So the door is batel to the house. It's not made for the candle.28:29So therefore, even though I put it with intention that it should be there,28:31since the door has a much larger function beyond this candle,28:35the door will not become basis. Even when the muktzeh is on it, it will not become basis.28:41Same thing would be, lemashal, if you have a closet and you have a door to the28:47closet, and on the sides of the closet there's, you know, some places where you can put things in there,28:51and you put some muktzeh over there with intention that it should be there for Shabbat,28:56the door will not become muktzeh. Why? Because the door is batel to the bigger closet.29:01It's made for the closet; it's not made for your29:04muktzeh. This will be applicable also: you have a door to the fridge,29:08and on the side of the door somebody placed muktzeh over there,29:11and you have, you know, those shelves on the side of the door,29:13and one of the things over there, one of the shelves on the door itself,29:19somebody placed 100% pure muktzeh that should be there.29:21The owner placed the muktzeh that should be there for the entire Shabbat.29:24He took those sweet potatoes that we spoke about before, and he put them in the fridge.29:29He's an owner. He's a baal bayit. He wanted to be there for Shabbat.29:34But sweet potatoes are29:37muktzeh. It's not going to make the fridge muktzeh, and it's not even going to make the door of the fridge29:40muktzeh, because the door is made for the fridge. It's made for other functions.29:44It's batel to the whole thing.29:46And here's one practical, very, very practical case,29:51and that is like this.29:54The practical case is, which happens a lot,29:57you have your weekday jacket that you wear,30:00and that weekday jacket works very well in the rain.30:03And then you have your Shabbos jacket,30:04you know, the Shabbos coat that you usually wear for, what's it called,30:08you know, the wool coat, for a man or30:10woman. I'm focusing on men right now.30:12You know, the woman will understand by themselves.30:15So if I have this wool coat that I wear only on Shabbat,30:18and then the other coat which I usually wear during the weekday,30:20I have a Shabbos coat and a weekday coat.30:22In my weekday coat, I put money,30:24and I wanted it to be there. I didn't forget it there.30:26I put my money inside of it over there.30:29I trust that nothing's going to happen to30:31it, and I want it to be there for the entire Shabbat.30:32I'm going to wear it back in the weekday.30:33I'm going to remember I have the money inside of it.30:36Now it's in my pocket.30:37In that case, something happened on30:40Shabbos. I need to use that jacket.30:41I need an extra jacket. My jacket was forgotten in shul,30:44or the weekday jacket is better for this kind of weather,30:47whatever it may be. I want to use that jacket.30:50Do we say now that since the jacket has the pockets inside of it,30:54and the pockets there are holding,30:56which I wanted to be there for31:01Shabbat—there's no such a thing, I wanted the money before Shabbat,31:03I never knew I'm going to use the31:04jacket—do we say now that the jacket becomes a basis?31:08And the answer is no,31:10because the pocket is batel.31:14It's part of the bigger jacket.31:17The whole jacket has pockets on the side.31:19The main thing is the jacket.31:21The pocket is a side thing.31:23Since it's a side thing,31:25although the pocket itself is31:28mukzeh, the money inside of it is31:29mukzeh, and therefore that pocket is31:31mukzeh. I cannot put my hand inside of that pocket.31:33Even if somehow the money comes out,31:35that pocket remains31:36mukzeh, but the jacket does not become31:39mukzeh, because the pocket is batel to the jacket.31:44That's an important31:46halacha. However, this is only true in pockets that are made like a jacket pocket,31:52where only the edge of the pocket is sewn on,31:56and the pocket itself has its own status.32:00It's his own kli. It's like its own pocket, right? It's its own bag.32:04So there we could say we could rule the pocket.32:07We could give the pocket a status32:10in muktzeh. That means we could say it's muktzeh, it's a32:14basis, and the jacket itself is not32:18basis, not because it's not going to be batel to it.32:21However, in a case where I have a shirt,32:25and, you know, like the regular dress shirts that mostly32:28yeshiva guys and regular guys wear,32:30and the shirt, a lot of shirts have a pocket in the front.32:35Let's say a person put money in there on purpose.32:38Let's say a person put money there on purpose.32:39Now he needs to use that shirt on Shabbat.32:43Since over there the whole shirt is the pocket,32:47meaning to say the pocket is not separate from the shirt.32:50It's not two separate entities.32:52The pocket is part of the shirt.32:54So really the shirt is there holding the money.32:56And when you put the money, you wanted it to be there for Shabbat.33:00There the shirt becomes basis to the money,33:04and the whole entire shirt is33:06muktzeh. Even if you shake out the money from it,33:08the shirt remains muktzeh. It's a basis to the33:12davar ha-asur. But again, this is only when the money was placed33:15with intention to be there for Shabbat.33:17It's a very hard case to find, the case of the shirt,33:21because usually you have your weekday shirt33:23and you have your Shabbat shirt.33:25You're never going to put money in your Shabbat shirt.33:27If you did put money in your Shabbat shirt, for example,33:30last Motzei Shabbat you put on the Shabbat shirt.33:32You went out to the pizza store, the guy gave you change,33:34and you put it in your pocket. You probably forgot in your pocket.33:36Why would somebody put money in the Shabbat shirt33:40that should be there for Shabbat?33:42Obviously not, right? You obviously forgot it.33:44In the case where you forgot money in your shirt,33:47you could just shake out the money from your shirt33:49because it's not basis. You can't wear it like that with the money.33:52Besides the problem of carrying, because it's33:54muktzeh, you have to shake out the money first.33:56Now, when it comes to the jacket that has money inside the pocket,34:00in that case what you could do is34:03shake out the money from the pocket and then wear the jacket.34:06True, the pocket itself will remain34:10muktzeh, but the jacket is not muktzeh, but you cannot walk out with the money;34:12you have to shake out the money.34:14Somebody wants to know now, if I'm shaking out the money,34:17what do I do? Maybe I'm going to touch it.34:19Touching muktzeh is not a problem, especially if your intention is not to touch it.34:21It's a davar she'eino mitkaven over here.34:24So therefore, shake out the money and then you'll be able to use the jacket,34:28even if your intention was that the money should be in that pocket for the entire Shabbat.34:33Why? Like we said before, because the jacket pocket is different from a shirt pocket.34:37The jacket pocket is34:40meant—it's not meant, excuse me—it's sewn on as a separate keli from the entire jacket.34:47Rabotai, we're pretty much done with the halachot of basis ledavar ha'asur and basis ledavar ha'asur mutar.34:56We have finished Parashat Miketz and Vayigash in Ben35:01Ish Chai, Shanah Sheniyah, that deal with the entire halachot of35:03muktzeh. I brought over here six cases which are very, very interesting,35:09and we can learn a lot from them. We can review a lot of the halachot of35:13muktzeh, and I think it's a very, very good guide—not just guide, I mean,35:19but a practical way of applying that which we learned.35:23So now we can go to the second part of this class.35:25For whatever time that we have—I'm looking at the clock right now, we have about 18 minutes and 3035:29seconds—we're going to use up this time to go over these cases that have come up35:34and try to think along, as I bring up the case, what the halacha should be.35:39If you've been following us till now, you should be able to tell me what the halacha should be,35:45and we'll show you how to work out, how to figure out what the case, you know,35:49how to dissect a question that comes up on35:52muktzeh. Let's start with something very simple, and then we'll go a little bit more complicated.35:56A very common case: a person has a bag, what we call a koracha by our circles,36:03or a tefillin bag, where he has his tallit and tefillin inside of it.36:08So now this tefillin bag has—it's not really a tefillin bag; it's a tallit bag that also has tefillin inside of it.36:15So now a person has the whole tallit bag with tallit, siddur, and his tefillin.36:22The question is, can he move this tefillin bag?36:26Can he pick it up? Can he move it?36:28That's the question36:29in halacha. When you get such a question, or such a question comes up for you,36:33what you have to do is first ask why.36:35Why do you want to move the tefillin bag?36:39If you want to move it, first get the whole case.36:41If the guy says, I want to move it because I want to take my tefillin bag to the shul,36:46obviously we're not talking about a problem of eruv; we're talking about in the same building.36:49You're in the hotel, in the same dining; you're taking it from the dining room to the prayer hall.36:55So in that case, what are you doing?36:56You're picking up the tallit and the tefillin together, right?37:00That should be not a problem.37:02I'll tell you why not. I'll tell you in a second.37:04This is how you dissect it.37:05First of all, first of all, we have to basically scan the whole question37:11and figure out what is the muktzeh over here,37:14which item is in question that's muktzeh, and its status.37:18So in such a question, okay, is the tallit muktzeh? No.37:23Tallit could be worn on Shabbat, right?37:24Is the siddur muktzeh? No.37:26Sifrei Kodesh are never37:27muktzeh. Is the bag muktzeh, the bag that's containing everything?37:30Well, that will be תלוי on— What is it holding?37:35Tefillin now. Is tefillin muktzeh or not?37:37We saw several opinions.37:40The most stringent opinion holds that tefillin is muktzeh because it's37:49a kli shemelachto l'isur. Okay, so let's go with the most stringent opinion.37:52Tefillin is muktzeh because it's37:55a kli shemelachto l'isur. What's halacha by37:57kli shemelachto l'isur? We learned that kli shemelachto l'isur, you're allowed to move it l'tzorech mekomo, l'tzorech gufo.38:01If I need its spot, if I need the place.38:04So if my tefillin bag is on a chair38:08and I want to sit down on that chair38:10and stool, I'm allowed to pick up the tefillin bag, and once I pick it up in my hand,38:13I can put it down wherever I want38:14because I want to sit in its spot.38:16If my— I want to— no, I want to move my tefillin bag because I need the38:21talit, so fine, I'm allowed to pick up the whole entire thing38:24because I need that which is inside.38:29It's a kli shemelachto l'isur v'heter, right, which it's not going to be worse than tzorech gufo, which is going to be mutar.38:33So I can pick up the whole entire thing38:35and pull out my talit from inside of it.38:38The real question is,38:40I have my talit and tefillin in an area38:44where I just want to pick it up to protect my tefillin.38:46I don't want anything to happen to it.38:48Can I move it or not? That's the question.38:51So we ask: the talit bag,38:55it's containing tefillin and it's holding a siddur and38:57talit. What's more important to you right now on Shabbat,38:59your tefillin or your talit and siddur?39:03Most people, right now what's more important to me is the siddur and39:06talit. So therefore, it's a kli shemelachto l'isur mutar.39:09We learned that if it's a kli shemelachto l'isur mutar,39:11you have to shake off the muktzeh first if it's possible.39:13Here, you can't shake out the39:16muktzeh, because if you shake out the muktzeh, which is the tefillin,39:18it's going to fall on the floor.39:19It's a bizui the tefillin. That's asur.39:22So therefore, in such a case, you're allowed to pick it up39:26all together. Since you can't take out the mukzeh, the tefillin,39:28and you're allowed to move it wherever you want to move it to.39:31But if you tell me, no, no, no, no, hold on.39:34All I have is a siddur and my tefillin inside39:37me. So it's a kli שמלאכתו לאיסור. It's a39:41basis, a kli שמלאכתו לאיסור, okay? And the tefillin is more important to you.39:43So in that case, what would be the39:46halacha? Is39:49it mutar to move it l'tzorech מקומו? Yes, but over here39:51it's not l'tzorech מקומו. I'm doing it only for the protection of the tefillin.39:54So here we'll tell you that you should create, you should create a reason that—40:00To be able to move the tefillin bag. How?40:04Let's say it's on a chair. Decide that you want to use that chair.40:07Once you want to use the chair, so you're allowed to pick up the tefillin bag to be able to sit on it.40:11And once you pick it up in your hand, you're allowed to put it down wherever you want,40:15carry it to wherever you want, and place it there.40:17That's how you should analyze the question that comes up to you.40:21Always scan: what is the question here? What is the40:24muktzeh? What kind of status does it have from the categories of40:27muktzeh? Which category does it fall under? And what is the halacha for that category?40:32And then you'll know how to operate.40:34Here's another question, a little bit more complicated, a little bit more complicated, but it happened to me.40:40I think it's very, very interesting.40:44I had an envelope with 12 checks inside of it.40:47So, you know, they have this new app. It's not new. You know, for me everything is new. It's very cool.40:52First time I'm saying on air, so it's new. You know, it's new to this class.40:56Anyway, they have this app where it's like a Chase or HSBC, one of those bank apps,41:02and from the app you could deposit a check directly.41:07So as a result, all the checks, you know, once upon a time you got a check,41:11you gave it to the bank, you never saw that check again.41:13Maybe you'll see it in a picture41:14and, you know, zecheronah livrachah, you'll remember how it looks like.41:18But to be able to lift together with the check again,41:21ah, that is only possible with this new technology.41:24They're able to deposit a check and still retain the check.41:27In any case, let's come back to our case.41:28I have an envelope had 12 checks inside of it.41:30Ten checks were deposited. Two were not deposited.41:34Let's make up a number. Let's say each check was $200, $500 each,41:39okay? Now, the other checks already deposited.41:41What happened is on Shabbat, the envelope which contained all the 12 checks fell.41:46And now in the middle of my dining room table, I had checks all over the floor.41:52What's the halacha?41:54Now let me tell you what I want.41:56I couldn't care less about the deposited checks,41:59as, you know, it would be nice maybe to retain them just, you know, in case somebody asks us about it.42:04But the other two checks, the $500, that's $1,000 right there.42:07And with my children, a $500 check is as good as a $1 Monopoly paper.42:15Understand? It means nothing to them.42:17They're going to rip it up if they, or they're going to use it as paper airplane42:19and let it go flying into the neighbor's backyard,42:23and my neighbor will have a $500 check, you know,42:25so I'm going to lose it.42:27So now this is what I want.42:29I want to be able to save those two checks. I couldn't care less about the other checks.42:33Halacha is, what could I do here on Shabbat?42:36Obviously, I can't pick it up. It's42:39muktzeh. Check is exactly like money.42:42It's muktzeh machmat gufo.42:43It has no intrinsic value,42:45only valuable because we decide to give it a value.42:48So now, this is how you analyze the question.42:52First of all, what's the subject? The checks.42:56Give it, categorize it.42:57What kind of muktzeh is it?42:59Which, like we just said, it's muktzeh machmat gufo.43:01All the muktzeh machmat gufo.43:02The two checks that are not deposited and the ten checks that have been deposited.43:07So what could I do?43:09So can I sweep them?43:12Can I sweep them?43:12So sweeping them means I'm using a broom,43:16which is43:18kli shemelachto l'heter, to move the43:20muktzeh. Is that mutar?43:21That is known in halacha, as we discussed last week or two weeks ago,43:25that's known as tiltul min hatzad.43:28Tiltul min hatzad is mutar only43:35l'tzorech davar hamutar. Here I'm taking the broom and I'm sweeping the checks away.43:39Is that mutar or not?43:41So it's only mutar if I'm doing it for something that is permitted on Shabbat.43:45If I'm sweeping the checks, let's say, for example,43:47I spot the two checks I want,43:49I sweep the checks that I want, the two checks I want,43:53inside of my closet will be safe. That's asur.43:56I'm using a broom,43:59kli shemelachto l'heter, to move muktzeh for the sake of the44:01muktzeh. I want to protect the muktzeh. That's asur.44:03Tiltul min hatzad, for the sake of the checks, will be asur.44:06But if I'm sweeping the other ten checks,44:08I will put them in the garbage because I couldn't care less about them.44:10I'm sweeping them because I don't want my dining room on Shabbat to look like a mess.44:16I want to clean it up.44:17So there, it's called tiltul min hatzad, like the broom,44:22moving the muktzeh. I'm using the broom to move the44:25muktzeh. Let's talk about mutar, why? To make my living room clean.44:29I may even, maybe it's possible that it could be graf44:33shel rei, but it's probably not graf44:34shel rei. But I have the heter of the tiltul min hatzad.44:37Regarding the other checks, obviously I can't pick it up with my hand.44:40I can't even use a broom to move it.44:42The only thing I could do, if I want to protect the checks,44:45is move it with my foot.44:48That's called44:50tiltul begufo. Tiltul begufo, even l'tzorech davar ha'asur is mutar.44:55Even for the sake of the checks, I want to use my foot44:58and just kick it or drag it to a safe spot,45:02even though I'm doing it for the protection of the check, it's mutar. Why?45:06Tiltul begufo. It's not the normal way of moving the check,45:11usually you move checks with your hands.45:13When was the last time you saw somebody deposit a check with his foot,45:16even an ATM machine?45:17And if he does, take a picture, show it to us.45:20We'll put it on America's Wildest Shows or something, you know.45:24In any case, so that's why tiltul begufo, in that case, will be mutar.45:31Good. We learned some interesting45:34halachot in that. Another question, which has come up many, many times.45:40I've gotten phone calls, and then a few people called me for this question45:47from this class and away from this class. It's like this:45:51people have a cell phone, and they use the cell phone as an alarm clock on Shabbat,45:55and they want to now move it on Shabbat.45:57What's the din? What's the halacha?45:59So here it's a little bit more complicated46:01because you have to ask a few questions.46:03You have to get the full story.46:06It's a cell phone that's used as an alarm clock.46:07The question, the first question I want to know is,46:11is this cell phone, before I decide what category the cell phone is going to fall under,46:15is this cell phone a working cell phone or not working cell phone?46:19Meaning to say, is this the only thing that you use your cell phone for,46:22only as an alarm clock,46:23or do you use the cell phone, no, to make calls?46:26It's like my regular, you know, like most people's regular phone. They just have an alarm on their regular phone.46:30Let's take the simpler case.46:33Let's say this cell phone is a regular cell phone.46:37It's a functioning, it's a working cell phone,46:40and now I put my alarm on it to wake me up.46:43It usually wakes me up every single day at46:45seven, and now I want it to wake me up on Shabbat also at46:48seven o'clock. So, but the only thing is, so what's the question?46:51Ah, the question is two questions.46:53Number one is, I decide to sleep in a separate room.46:56Can I pick up my cell phone and put it in the other room?46:59Question number two is, let's say the cell phone rings at seven o'clock in the morning.47:04Now obviously I can't shut it off.47:06Question is, can I—I want to sleep later.47:08You know, I want to go to the later minyan on Shabbat.47:11I want to go to the nine o'clock minyan,47:13so I want to get a little bit more snoozing.47:14So can I take the cell phone and transfer it to a different room,47:17pick it up and move it to a different room,47:19so this way it doesn't bother me?47:21Those are the two questions.47:22Believe it or not, that's a little bit simpler to answer.47:25So let's go through each. Each case.47:28First case is where it's a working cell phone,47:31and I'm using it as an alarm clock.47:33Let's categorize the cell phone.47:35What kind of cell phone is this?47:37Is this for sure a47:40kli shemelachto l'isur? Because the main function of a cell phone47:43is to use it for something that's asur on Shabbat,47:45which is calling.47:46By the way, all that Shabbat app is nonsense,47:48okay? It means nothing. You can't use it for that.47:51So the cell phone is a kli shemelachto l'isur for sure.47:54If it's a very, very47:58expensive—and not expensive—but if the cell phone is very...48:00Point to you that you're very careful with it and what you do with it, which usually48:04happens when you get the brand new smartphone, like an iPhone 6S, and you just48:09upgraded for the first couple of weeks or months. It could possibly even be muktzeh machmat chisaron kis.48:15That's a bit more severe. If it's muktzeh, let's go with muktzeh machmat chisaron kis. Let's say you have a very48:20chashuvy cell phone. To you, it is muktzeh machmat chisaron kis, nothing to talk about. You48:26can't move it. The only way you can move it is tiltul b'gufo, in an abnormal way. Pick it up with your toes, of48:32course in a way that you're not going to put it on, whatever it is, in a way that you're not carrying48:37it normally, but you're only doing tiltul b'gufo. If it's a cell phone, let's not so48:45important to you. It could be a smartphone, but just not so chashuvy. You lost that status48:51of importance, so it's only kli שמלאכתו לאיסור, but you're still using it to call48:57and to use it as an alarm. So in the case where it rings and you want to out of49:02the room, we learned that kli שמלאכתו לאיסור is מותר לצורך מקומו. Poskim bring down,49:10if I can't use the makom because of the kli שמלאכתו לאיסור, so then I'm allowed to move49:14it because that's called לצורך מקומו. In the case where the alarm is ringing, I49:19can't fall asleep because the alarm is ringing. To pick up the cell phone, which is49:24kli שמלאכתו לאיסור, and move it out of the room is מותר because that allows me to use49:29the room. However, in other case, which is the case where I want to use the cell phone49:38to wake me up, that's already a little different. I'm now using the cell phone. I'm, let's say, bedroom49:45number one is where my cell phone is. I want to move it to bedroom number two, and I need49:49it to wake up. I need it to wake up. There's no other way to wake up. This is the only49:53alarm that's on. So in that case, let's go back. It's a kli שמלאכתו לאיסור, and— It's50:00mutar l'tzorech gufo, like a muk. What am I using it for now? I'm using it right now as an alarm clock.50:06Can I move it now, even though I'm going to sleep? Or, you know, so the question is, when do you want50:12to move it? You want to move it at seven o'clock? That's called l'tzorech gufo. Since I'm using50:18it on Shabbat to wake me up, which is mutar, to allow the alarm to wake me up, it's50:25mutar. So technically it would be mutar to pick up the cell phone right before I go to sleep.50:30You can't do it any time, because throughout the whole Shabbat, the cell phone has a status50:34of kli she'melachto l'isur. Just for that moment when I need a l'tzorech gufo, which is before50:38I go to sleep, I'm allowed to pick up the cell phone, of course, without putting on50:42any lights, and place it next to my bed. Now, if this is true, kal vachomer in a case where50:48a person's cell phone is not functional, it's not being used, and he only uses it as an50:53alarm clock. So this is like any other alarm clock. This is תלוי in the machloket between50:59Rav Moshe and other Acharonim. If something functions through electricity, does it have the status51:04of kli she'melachto l'isur or kli she'melachto l'heter? Rav Moshe Feinstein's opinion is it's51:12kli she'melachto l'heter, just because it works by electricity. We don't care how it works; we care more of51:18what its function is. The function of this cell phone now, and I've been using it for51:23the last week or two, is to wake me up. It's an alarm clock. An alarm clock is mutar, even51:30though it works with electricity. So technically I'm allowed to move it on Shabbat. Now, why51:35do I keep on saying technically? I'll tell you why. Because there's a very important51:41unwritten halacha, and that is you're not allowed to do strange things in front of people.51:48If you move a cell phone on Shabbat, because you know the halacha is mutar because I'm51:53using it as an alarm clock, and there's enough poskim that matir it, other people who51:58don't know this halacha will look at it as strange, and you're not allowed to do strange52:03things in front of people that will learn the wrong thing.52:08Kal vachomer if you're a ben Torah, if you're a rabbi, where people look at you, and when they see52:12a heter by you, there might be more meikel, more lenient. So therefore, we're sharing this halacha with52:18you because many people have asked this question, but you have to be smart when doing these52:24kind of things not to do it in front of people where they could pick up, chas v'shalom, the wrong52:28halacha. Now we only went through three cases over here. I had six cases, but like we said, this52:34is the last class on Hilchot Muktzeh. We are here. We're going to be here for the next52:39couple of minutes. If you would like to call in to the radio, to JRoot Radio, to ask any52:46questions, the number is 718-683-5858. We'll be off the air. Just before we go, we'd like52:51to make a l'chaim. We have, Baruch Hashem, we finished Hilchot Muktzeh. Finally, it's been, I don't know if it's a year or not.52:58Next week we're going to do one more class on Hilchot Shabbat. Well, it's going to be a surprise.53:02Make sure you join us next week. And afterwards we'll go in the halachot of the holidays.53:06If you're watching the video, this is not really vodka or arak or anything. It's just53:11water. I don't drink, so, but I have to make a l'chaim, so I took water, you know. We're going to make53:15a l'chaim together, which be zocheh, be'ezrat Hashem, to learn all the Hilchot Shabbat and lizkot lilmod u'lelamed, lishmor v'la'asot u'lekayem, et kol divrei Torahcha b'ahavah. Thank you for listening. Thank you53:28for joining us. We'll see you next week, be'ezrat Hashem. Thank you, David Levine, Niran, and Rav53:34Nissim, and the whole JRoot Radio staff. This class will be aired on again tonight at 1053:38o'clock. We'll see you next week. Have a good week and Shabbat Shalom.
