Like we said, we're always going to talk about, when there's halachot that come in a specific time,0:14so we're going to take a little interruption to talk about halachot that come in a certain time.0:17So everything in life, in a way Hashem created the world,0:21is that with everything you can learn how to take advantage of it.0:24So, for example, right now the weather is getting cooler,0:29and because of that the leaves are falling. But that brings out the beauty in nature.0:33You go and you look at the trees, it has a gorgeous thing.0:35And when it gets hotter, so we go, we sit in the sun, we get the tan from the sun.0:40So we always have to learn how to use the time.0:42The nights are getting longer, although people like longer days and a lot more things,0:48Shabbat, later Shabbat and everything else, but the reality is the reality.0:52They're changing the clock, Baruch Hashem, they're changing the0:55clock. So this week we took advantage of the time, and we started praying, Baruch Hashem, our regular1:00minyan, started praying Nitz, we were able to pray Nitz on time.1:03Next week, I mean Motzaei Shabbat, we're going to change the clock,1:06and there's a very important halacha to take advantage of.1:10I'm going to read you what it says in Shulchan Aruch, and we'll build on that.1:14The Shulchan Aruch writes,1:20ראוי לכל ירא שמים שיהא מצר ודואג על חורבן בית המקדש. It's befitting that every God-fearing Jew should feel bad and worry about the fact that there's no Beit HaMikdash being built,1:28that's still being destroyed.1:30Now, this is according to Shulchan Aruch. There's no concept of tikkun chatzot.1:34This is something that at times a person has to think, you know, ah, there's nobody has something to feel bad about.1:42The mekubalim... They go and they speak about the importance of the tikkun chatzot.1:48What is tikkun chatzot?1:49Tikkun chatzot is basically a few perakim of mostly Tehillim1:55and one perek from Eicha, a few pesukim from1:58Yeshayahu, that if a person could read regularly, like the pace that I'm talking right now, this pace, this slow,2:04it'll take you around seven to seven and a half minutes.2:07That's it.2:08Now, if you fall asleep in the middle, I can help you.2:09But if you read it regular, it'll take about seven to seven and a half minutes.2:13That's all it takes.2:15The tikkun chatzot is such an important thing.2:17Chazal tell us that at midnight, Hashem sits and cries about the Beit HaMikdash.2:22And like any person that goes through anything, when you join that person in his whatever it may be,2:28if it's his simcha, to join them, you show support.2:32If it's, lo aleinu, a person is going through suffering, to join them,2:36to, you know, when we visit a person who's mit'abel, who's a mourner,2:40that also shows tremendous support.2:42So a lot of people love to be happy2:45when it's zman simcha, mo'adim. It's great.2:47That's beautiful,2:48especially, ein simcha2:51ela b'yayin, right?2:52Ever can relate to that.2:53Basar even, we'll take2:54basar. Those are easy things to do, or easier to do.2:57But tzaar, a lot of people try to avoid the things.3:00But there's a tzaar about the Beit HaMikdash and the suffering about Beit HaMikdash,3:03and such important things are said about saying3:08tikkun chatzot. Let's get to the halacha lemaaseh, and then we'll tell you more,3:10you know, if we have a little bit more time, about the importance of it.3:13Halacha lemaaseh, what should a person do?3:14Chatzot. So usually chatzot is like 12:40, like this past week,3:1812:48. Now that's considered early, but usually in the summer it's like3:211, 1:10. So it's very hard for a lot of people who try to sleep a little bit earlier3:25and not at that time, so, or to wake up at that time.3:28It's very, very difficult.3:29Mekubalim say a person should wake up and say3:30tikkun chatzot, but it's hard. It messes up the whole day.3:34But next week it's going to be3:3711:39. I just checked the calendar. Until January 3rd,3:40it's not going to go past 123:42o'clock. And I doubt anybody's sleeping before that time.3:44Obviously, sleeping, you're sleeping,3:45but if you're not sleeping at that time, so then3:48take advantage of it.3:49Take advantage right before you go to sleep.3:51What do you do?3:52Open up almost every siddur that we have,3:54almost.3:55Some of them, unfortunately, don't realize the importance of it.3:57You open up to the beginning, it says Tikkun3:59Chatzot. It says Tikkun, what it says, Tikkun4:02Rachel and Tikkun4:03Leah. Now, it's important to know the difference,4:05because there are certain days,4:06although you don't have to worry about them from now until4:09Chanukah, there are certain days that we don't say Tikkun4:11Rachel, but we say only Tikkun4:12Leah. From now until at least January,4:14I can tell you that when it comes to days that we don't normally say Yehi Shem the next day,4:19you're going to skip Tikkun4:20Rachel, you're only going to say Tikkun4:22Leah. If you are not skipping, which is the normal Tikkun4:25Rachel, the Tikkun4:26Chatzot, you take off your leather shoes,4:29you sit down on the floor,4:31preferably by a doorpost that has a mezuzah,4:34and you just read the4:36pesukim. If you could feel emotional about the Beit HaMikdash and cry,4:38wonderful.4:40Very good,4:41if you could feel that way.4:42But if, you know, obviously thinking about the Beit4:44HaMikdash, if you can't feel, that's fine.4:45At least say the pirkei Tehillim,4:47those things are called Tikkun4:49Chatzot, called4:49Leah. And the days that we don't say Tikkun4:52Rachel, like I just told you,4:52from now to January,4:53I'll give you what those days are.4:54It's going to be whenever the next day,4:56you know, we don't4:58say4:59Yehi Shem, we're saying Yehi Shem, which includes all of5:00the days of Chanukah and everything else,5:01you're only going to say Tikkun5:02Leah without having to sit on the floor.5:03You can sit regular5:05and say it,5:05but again, at that same time5:06after5:07Chatzot, and skip also5:11Lamnatzeach, as well. You see there's5:13a mizmor in Tikkun5:14Leah that's in a different5:15font because we skip that on5:17those days. That's the5:19halacha lemaaseh. It's very simple,5:20but it's very5:21chashuv. I don't forget which Acharon it was5:23that was trying to publish his5:25sefarim. He was trying to,5:26you know, he had a lot of5:27sefarim, he couldn't publish them.5:28He started saying Tikkun5:30Chatzot. And he was zocheh that they were published5:32and we all learn them.5:33I forgot which one,5:33I5:34said maybe it's,5:35I forgot if it was5:36the Bach or, I think it was5:37the Bach, but5:38that was a chashivut of it.5:40There's a lot of5:41very, very important stuff,5:42even brought down5:43as a segulah.5:44If you're ever learning5:45and you find a hard time5:47understanding something,5:48if you even think just about5:50Churban Beit HaMikdash,5:51you get5:52siyata d'shmaya, you'll be able5:53to understand.5:54Test it and5:55prove it, that's what Menachem brings down,5:57and I can tell you also.5:58Maybe I don't realize,5:59I don't remember to do it6:00all the time,6:01but when it's done,6:02it really gives you6:04an unbelievable, unbelievable segulah.6:05So you see how important6:06this thing is.6:07Like I said,6:07Shulchan Aruch,6:08it's all about regular,6:10it should be metzuyar, but this is the practical way6:11of doing it.6:12Take advantage.6:14Next week begins,6:15like I said,6:16you have till January6:16at least till 126:19o'clock, like, you know,6:20that's doable time.6:22You have technically6:24Tikkun Chatzot, yes,6:26you have Tikkun Chatzot if you wake up early.6:26That's6:28correct. Okay, shalom.
